Analytic Research of Life Style of Rural Boarding Primary School Student--as an Example of Bridge Primary School in Jiangxia District QIAN Jianlong Physical Education College of Jianghan University, Wuhan, Hubei Province, China Abstract: In this paper, using the method of literature, questionnaire, interview, data statistics, research the boarding pupils lifestyle. Objective is to explore the status and characteristics of rural boarding school students lifestyle. Overall rural boarding primary school students in learning, work and rest, extracurricular activities, and communication and way of life are varying degrees of problems. Keywords: Rural, Boarding pupils, Life style 1 Introduction In recent year, according to decision on the reform and development of basic education, most of Chinese rural areas have adjusted layout of some primary schools, and set up boarding school where people need to establish and conditions are permitted. The work plays a very important role in developing rural superior quality educational resources and improving teaching efficiency. The bridge primary school of Fasi town in Jiangxia district established under the situation. From 2004 to 2008, more than 2400 national rural boarding schools were built, renovated or expanded. Seen from the above information, boarding schools are broad, and the number is large. The bridge primary school in Jiangxia district is the one of the more than 2400 schools. Boarding school is closed and it is a kind of half militarizing management. In this way, the chance to meet family members, the affection that students received and social contact of life experience are less. Relatively, the ability of life self-care and independence can get exercise. In addition, students can not only learn to live in the collective, but also their cooperation spirit and communication ability are both improved, so the experience of students life and affection exists in current situation of defect. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the life style of boarding schools. This thesis analyzed daily life, studying, extracurricular activities, work and test time and communication and so on. It provides reference for the research of life style of rural students, narrowing the gap between urban and rural primary schools, and serve for Wuhan rural construction. 2 Research Objects and Methods 2.1 Research objects This research sees 290 students of bridge primary school of Fasi town in Jiangxia district. (Grade 1 to 2,110 students, grade 3-6, 180 students.) 2.2 Research methods Literature reviews: Questionnaire method Questionnaire design covers some aspects of elementary students, such as learning, work and rest, spare time, daily life and communication. There were 180 questionnaires. The author collected 173 questionnaires, and the recovery rate was 96%. There were 162 valid questionnaires after sorting, and the effective rate was 94% Individual interviews Statistics 120
3 Results of Study and Analysis 3.1 The work and rest regime of boarding school students in rural areas After having investigated, the author found that the schedule of boarding school stipulated that students should get up at 6:30 in the morning, and go to bed at 19:40 at night, the total sleeping time is 10 hours and 50 minutes. The day time is 790 minutes in total, and it contains 530 minutes of class time, which accounts for 67% of the total. The maneuvering time is short and scattered. Besides, a period of time in front of noon and night lessons is mainly to do homework or extracurricular practice which teacher arranged in the morning or afternoon. Overall, school arranged the work and rest time of students in perfect order, but the content is monotonous. The schedule of boarding school shows that 30 minutes during morning independent study, 4 classes in the morning, 3 classes in the afternoon, 2 night lessons in the evening, and each lesson is 40 minutes. There are 30 minutes class-break setting up exercise after the second lesson in the morning and the eye exercises after the first lesson in the evening. 3.2 The learning situation of rural boarding school students The learning time situation of rural boarding school students From Monday to Friday, the learning time is sufficient. Students can spent their spare time in their favorite form. It can not only form learning habit to students, but also promote their grade to make great progress. Moreover, students live in school, and the time is long, the learning time is efficient. In addition, students can concentrate on class, and learning emotion is stable, the atmosphere is also good. Furthermore, it is easy for students to form good learning habits under good environment. At the same time, the learning management is in order, and the individual guidance of teachers can be timely and professional. Besides, it is fast and convenient for students to help each other. It can promote the underachiever and top students to make progress, and it is benefit to improve student s grade entirely The condition of learning initiative degree of rural boarding primary school students Investigation shows that the learning initiative of grade 3 and grade 5 students are high, but grade 4 students learning initiative is lower by 20%. When the author communicated with students with interviews, he found that there was only one class of grade 4. However, the number is much higher than primary school reasonable toll - 24 students, nearly 50 people; Students generally disgust with the teacher s management, but they dare not directly tell the teacher, the school did not establish relevant system. And grade 6 students are in the midst among graduation phase, the initiative of students decline obviously, and students' learning pressure is bigger Grade 3 Grade 4 Grade 5 Grade 6 complete actively can complete have to complete Figure 1 The learning initiative in boarding junior and senior high school in rural areas (%) The situation of learning methods After having investigated, the author found that there are some preview methods of students as follows: 121
Grade 3 Grade 4 Grade 5 Grede 6 Look at textbook Try to understand Using textbook Figure 2 About students preview method of rural boarding primary school (%) After having studied and analyzed, students' learning methods were related to grade, and with grade increasing, learning initiative was gradually decline, but it was not obvious. When students were in grade 5 and grade 6, their learning pressure became more heavier, learning time was nervous, and their learning method was improper. 3.3 The extracurricular activities situation of rural boarding school students Table 1 The situation of extracurricular activity ofrural boarding school students grade number indexes Exercise times everyday 1 hour ~2 hours no exercise other every week 3~4 times ~2 times times more times The spare time of rural boarding primary school mainly concentrates on a period of time after the lunch and dinner. During this period of time, students have to line up to have lunch and dinner, and clean up the classroom and clean area. Taking part in physical exercise properly in the morning can make the person in an ideal state of mind, which can deal with learning life of a day to students. According to the survey, however, the bridge primary school has not organized morning exercises, and only junior and senior school students have took part in morning exercises from time to time. In terms of extracurricular sports, extracurricular sports activities are beneficial supplement of the physical education, students can strengthen physical education and exercise effect through the study of extracurricular sports activities, and form good habits of lifelong sports. It is of positive significance especially for primary and secondary schools. National physical education curriculum standard requires schools to carry out implement system of large recess activities. School arranges minutes large recess activities in every morning, at the same time, students should do Guangbocao seriously and school carry out collective sports activities. Survey data show that due to restricted by various conditions, the bridge primary school starts large recess at 9:40 am after the second class, and the content are mainly Guangbocao called colorful sunshine and other collective sports, such as rope skipping for 30 minutes, to the end of the 10:
From table 3, the exercise time and times of grade 3, grade 5, and grade 6 students are enough. However, the exercise time and times of grade 4 is relatively insufficient. It illustrates that enough exercise frequency and time is helpful for the physical health and growth of rural boarding primary school students. With Observation and individual interview, the author found that some students' enthusiasm to activities was not high, but head teacher just stood aside and guided students during the process of supervision. New Curriculum Standard emphasizes students' extracurricular reading, and attach importance to accumulating language. In addition, it also made specific provisions for students' reading quantity. According to the figure, the author analyses that the students' extracurricular reading quantity decreased obviously, because the academic pressure is bigger and bigger. And the indicators have declined to different extent. At the same time, after having investigated, the author found that rural boarding primary school teachers almost have no extracurricular reading task. In this way, it can reduce the stress of teacher who has heavy stress. However, it is not benefit to develop and cultivate the students' ability of reading appreciation. 3.4 The food and clothing investigation of rural boarding school students Each student s have school uniforms, because the school is the boarding school. Bridge primary school students eat in the school canteen for three meals a day. When students live in the school, there is a proper proportion between the energy provided by the three major nutrients and the total energy which students take in. After having investigated, the basic diet and health knowledge of students were insufficient. When the author asked some life common sense with the interviews, the answer rate of this question is low, especially the lower grades students answer rates are lower. It shows that this is a turning point for students from families caring to independent life of school. The author also asked some basic nutrition knowledge, and their answer rates are not high. This reflects that the students' cognitive degree in health and hygiene or concern degree for nutrition knowledge. Through the dialogue with the students, interview, and observation, the author also found that when students answered the questions and questionnaire, they have "situational stress" and "cognitive dissonance" Investigation and analytic research about dietary nutrition situation of rural boarding school students Primary school students are in a critical period of growth and development, so comprehensive, balanced and abundant nutrition is a prerequisite for ensuring growth and development. In the questionnaires which the author has issued, the data showed as follows: In three meals a day, grade 3 students of rural boarding primary school eat averagely for every meal. However, grade 4 students mainly have lunch, grade 5 students mainly have dinner, and grade 6 mainly has lunch and dinner. From the perspective of the average of cost, almost the breakfast of every grade students is less, they eat more in the lunch, and they eat the most in the dinner. Expect the fifth grade, the reason is clear with table 5, the percentage of the grade 5 in often eat snacks accounted for 60%. The research shows that the dietary structure of bridge primary school students is unreasonable, and various nutrients consumption of students is far lower the reference consumption. The proportion of heat capacity distribution of three meals and capacity nutrients consumption doesn't suit. School canteen s ingredients are bought by the canteen. Breakfast provided by the school contact suppliers - breakfast shops, the variety is few, and is mainly Fried pasta. It was contacted by the national ministry of agriculture, ministry of education and the state bureau of quality and technical supervision unit organized "The drinking milk program for Chinese students" has covered this school. The drinking milk for students breakfast every day has changed from the beverage which contained milk of certain brand to students milk today. It is mainly the soup for lunch and supper with vegetables stored easily, such as potatoes, kelp, and carrot. Occasionally there is meat, such as pork, chicken leg, poached eggs, but the meat is frozen, not fresh supply, it is difficult to guarantee the nutrition of food The effects on students diet results from canteen hygiene of rural boarding primary school: Grade 6 students mainly clean school canteen hygiene as a clean area, the workshop of the kitchen is 123
cleaned by the teacher or teacher's family of school. The way of cleaning is very simple. Workshop has a water reservoir that can flush by water. The health status of canteen workers is poor. The wearing of clothed and masks at the scene of the work do not conform to the hygiene requirements. Moreover, canteen workers are lack of knowledge for necessary food safety and health law. The middle of the workshop is a workbench which is built by laying bricks or stones inlaid in white ceramic tile, on which workers put the rest of the food on the day. If it is summer, workers contained it into big basin and put it into refrigerator. And they don't take measures to separate it simply. This is unfavorable to keep the flavor of the food itself. Also it is easy to breed bacteria, so student's health can't be guaranteed. School canteen workers have not trained professionally. School leaders and the canteen management personnel understand insufficiently the policies and regulations of canteen hygiene management, and they don t attach importance to food hygiene work, and food hygiene management system is not sound. 3.5 The association situation of rural boarding primary school students Analytic research of students association situation with teachers in rural boarding primary school Questionnaire showed that grade 3 students could greet teachers, guests of family and elders actively. But grade 4 students were more passive, they greeted teachers or guests of family after being seen by teachers or guests. In addition, grade 5 students behaved better, but worse than grade 3students. They became timid when guests at home. The situation of grade 6 students was almost the same with grade 5 students. The difference of them is that the percentage of greeting actively was higher, and the percentage of being afraid of strangers was higher by 10%. It showed that polarization trend of character is more and more obvious Analytic research of students association situation with classmates in rural boarding primary school By observing the interacting situation of the students with classmates, the author analyses their inner thoughts and judge their mental health. Analysis showed that the arbitrary is big when grade 3 students contacted with their classmates, and their thought follow the feeling. Grade 4 students slowly know what their ideas were. They were less capricious than grade 3 students, and they began to learn to think. Compared with grade 3 and grade 4, grade 5 students performance is much more rational and mature, grade 6 students tend to be more mature. Thankfully, it is normal for this school students' interpersonal communication, and then the level along with the mental health is high. 4 Conclusion and Recommendation 4.1 Making full use of and developing life education resources of rural boarding primary school 4.2 Carrying out humanized education actively in the rural boarding primary school 4.3 Improving the system of rural boarding primary school and strengthen the standard management 4.4 To strengthen the humanistic care of rural boarding primary school students References [1].
