SMART Active Directry Migratr Installatin 2.1 Installatin Overview Installatin f SMART AD Migratr requires the installatin f SMART Directry Sync, the SMART AD Migratr Cnsle UI, Web Service, and Reprting, and the SMART Migratr Agent n devices. The installatin f these cmpnents must be cmpleted in the fllwing rder: 1. Installing SMART Directry Sync - Use the SMART Directry Sync installer. 2. Installing the SMART AD Migratr Cnsle UI, Web Service, and Reprting - After installing SMART Directry Sync, use the SMART AD Migratr installer. 3. Installing the SMART AD Migratr Agent n Devices - After installing SMART AD Migratr and creating an Active Directry Migratr synchrnizatin prfile in SMART Directry Sync, install the SMART AD Migratr Agent n devices. 2.2 Installing SMART Directry Sync Refer t the Installing n a Binary Tree Windws Server tpic f the Installing Directry Sync sectin f the SMART Directry Sync Installatin Guide fr detailed infrmatin fr crrectly installing SMART Directry Sync. 2.3 Installing the SMART AD Migratr Cnsle UI, Web Service, and Reprting 1. Dwnlad the install executable file frm the FTP site and save it n the SMART AD Migratr Server. After yu have finished dwnlading, the Desktp icn will appear. 2. Duble-click the executable t begin installing SMART AD Migratr. 3. The Install Wizard appears. The wizard displays a list f prerequisites needed n yur cmputer. 6 4. The Welcme screen appears. Click Next t cntinue. 5. The License Agreement screen appears. T accept the terms f the license agreement and cntinue with the install, click Yes. SMART ACTIVE DIRECTORY MIGRATOR 9.2 INSTALLATION GUIDE 6

7 6. The Select Features screen appears. Select the features t install and click Next t cntinue. SQL Server Reprting Services is required in rder t install the Reprting features. See Appendix C fr infrmatin n installing and cnfiguring SQL Server Reprting Services. The Web Service can be installed n a different server than the AD Migratr Cnsle UI. 8 7. The Chse Destinatin Lcatin screen appears. Click Brwse t chse a different install lcatin. Click Next t cntinue. 8. The Device Lg Virtual Directry screen appears. 9 9. The File Lcatin fr Dwnlad Jbs screen appears. Click Brwse t chse a different lcatin where dwnlad jbs will be saved. Click Next t cntinue. 10. The Database Server Lgin screen appears. Enter the SQL Database Server lcatin fr the Directry Sync database and credential infrmatin. Click Next t cntinue. The database (BTCdex) and credential infrmatin shuld be the same as when installing SMART Directry Sync as SMART AD Migratr shares the BTCdex database with Directry Sync. 10 11. If yu selected t cnnect using Windws Authenticatin n the previus screen, a screen t enter dmain username and passwrd appears. Enter the dmain user in DOMAIN\username frmat and the passwrd. Click Next t cntinue. SMART ACTIVE DIRECTORY MIGRATOR 9.2 INSTALLATION GUIDE 10

11 12. A windw displaying the installatin and cnfiguratin f Internet Infrmatin Services (IIS) will appear if nt already installed. 13. The Database Server Lgin screen cntinues t appear. 12 14. If yu selected t cnnect using Windws Authenticatin n the previus screen, a screen t enter dmain username and passwrd appears. Enter the dmain user in DOMAIN\username frmat and the passwrd. Click Next t cntinue. 15. If yu selected t install the Reprting feature, the SQL Reprt Server screen appears. Enter the Reprt Server URL and select Cnnectin Credential and Data Credential ptins. Clicking the Test buttn t verify the SSRS cnnectin credential is a best practice. See Appendix C fr infrmatin n verifying the Reprt Server URL. Click Next t cntinue. If SQL Server Reprting Services (SSRS) is nt set up, click Skip and OK n the cnfirmatin windw. SMART ACTIVE DIRECTORY MIGRATOR 9.2 INSTALLATION GUIDE 12

13 The Cnnectin Credential requires an accunt that has the Cntent Manager rle and the System Administratr rle defined n the SQL Server Reprting Server. The Data Credential requires an accunt that has permissin n the SQL Server Reprting Services database. These permissins are typically the database-level rles db_datareader and db_datawriter but shuld be verified by the SQL Server Reprting Services database administratr. Reprts will nt appear in the SMART AD Migratr Cnsle UI if the installatin f the Reprting feature is skipped. T install the Reprting feature at a later time, select t Mdify the installatin frm the Prgrams and Features page in the Cntrl Panel. See Appendix B fr infrmatin n mdifying SMART AD Migratr. 15. 14 16. When the installatin cmpletes, the InstallShield Wizard Cmplete message appears. Click Finish t clse the wizard. The Start Menu is updated and SMART AD Migratr icn is added t the desktp. Start Menu: Desktp icn: SMART AD Migratr Agents call back int the SMART AD Migratr server fr jbs. Therefre, the server where the Web Service is installed must have prt 80 and/r prt 443 pen. 15 Sectin 3. SMART Active Directry Migratr Agent Installatin 3.1 Installing the SMART AD Migratr Agent n Devices The SMART AD Migratr Agent is a key cmpnent f Active Directry migratin. The agent cntacts the SMART AD Migratr server at regular intervals, called plling, lking fr jbs and tasks t perfrm. Refer t the Requirements fr t verify all wrkstatins and servers meet the requirements fr agent installatin. Imprtant! - Windws 10 is NOT SUPPORTED at this time. Agent Installatin The agent can be installed using a GPO (Grup Plicy Object) r manually. T install the agent with a GPO: 1. Right-click n the SMART AD Migratr Agent MSI, pint t Share with, and click n specific peple. 2. Add a security grup. The "authenticated users" grup already includes all cmputers and is a gd grup t use. The grup yu add must have the shared Read permissin and NTFS permissin. 3. Click Share. 4. Click Dne. 5. Frm the Start menu, pint t Administrative Tls and click n Grup Plicy Management. 6. Right-click n the dmain r OU yu will be migrating and click n Create a GPO in this dmain, and link it here. 7. In the New GPO dialg bx, enter a Name fr the GPO and click OK. 8. Click n the new GPO and click OK. 9. Right-click n the GPO and select Edit. 10. Open Cmputer Cnfiguratin > Plicies > Sftware Settings and right-click n Sftware Installatin and then pint t New and click n Package. 11. In the File Name field, enter the UNC path t the MSI file and click Open. 12. Select the SMART ADMigratr Agent and click Open. 13. In the Deply Sftware windw, select the Assigned deplyment methd and click OK. The device must be rebted fr the applied grup plicy t cmplete the agent installatin. 16 T verify the GPO: 1. Lg n t a wrkstatin within the scpe f the GPO using administratr credentials. 2. Frm a cmmand prmpt n the wrkstatin, run gpresult -r 3. The Cmputer Settings sectin will display the applied grup plicy. A newly applied grup plicy will nt immediately be displayed. The Cmputer Settings sectin displays the applied grup plicy, but the agent installatin is nt cmpleted until the device is rebted. T manually install the agent: 1. Cpy the SMART AD Migratr Agent MSI file t each cmputer. 2. Duble-click the file t pen the installer. 3. On the Welcme screen, click Next. SMART ACTIVE DIRECTORY MIGRATOR 9.2 INSTALLATION GUIDE 16

17 4. On the Destinatin Flder screen, click Next. 5. On the Enter Server URI screen, enter the FQDN f the server running the AD Migratr service and click Next. Leave this screen blank if an SRV recrd has been created. See Creating SRV Recrds belw fr mre infrmatin. 19 Creating SRV Recrds The SMART AD Migratr Agent uses DNS t "autdiscver" the SMART AD Migratr server. An SRV (service lcatin) recrd must be created in DNS t pint the clients t the crrect server r servers. T create an SRV recrd using DNS Manager: 1. In the DNS Manager, right-click n the DNS server and click n Other New Recrds. 2. In the Resurce Recrd Type dialg, select the Service Lcatin (SRV) type and click Create Recrd. 3. In the New Resurce Recrd dialg, enter "_btadm" in the Service field. 4. Enter the fllwing infrmatin fr HTTP r HTTPS: Fr HTTP: Prtcl: _http Pririty: 0 Weight: 0 Prt Number: 80 Hst ffering the service: the FQDN f server running the AD Migratr service. Fr HTTPS: Prtcl: _https Pririty: 0 Weight: 0 Prt Number: 443 Hst ffering the service: the FQDN f server running the AD Migratr service. Yu can make SRV recrds using HTTP, HTTPS, r bth prtcls. Using HTTPS is suggested fr increased security. If bth prtcls are used, the agent will always attempt t use HTTPS first. 5. Click OK. Every client running the agent sftware must be able t reslve the DNS recrds. T verify the clients can reslve the SRV DNS recrds: 1. Open a cmmand prmpt n the client machine. 2. Run nslkup -q=srv _btadm._http.surce.int where "http" is the prtcl: http r https, and "surce.int" is the name f the surce dmain. SMART ACTIVE DIRECTORY MIGRATOR 9.2 INSTALLATION GUIDE 19

20 Sectin 4.Trubleshting AD Migratr Agent Installatin Trubleshting Prblem: The device registers, but des nt get discvered (Discvery Status remains blank in the AD Migratr cnsle). Slutin: Install PwerShell 2.0 r higher n the client. Operating systems earlier than Windws 7 d nt natively include PwerShell. Prblem: During manual installatin, a "wizard interrupted" errr appears. Slutin: Install.NET r higher n the client and run the installer again. Prblem: After a successful manual install, an "Unable t register" errr appears in the Event Viewer. Slutin: Verify the path t the AD Migratr server is crrect and cmplete. Prblem: After a successful manual install, an "Unable t aut-discver" errr appears in the Event Viewer. 21 Appendix A. Upgrading SMART AD Migratr SMART AD Migratr can be upgraded t a new versin withut uninstalling the existing versin. The install wizard will detect the necessary changes and manage the upgrade. Redeplying the SMART AD Migratr agents after upgrading is recmmended in rder t take advantage f new features in the new versin f SMART AD Migratr. Bth the current versin and previus versin (n-1) f the agent are supprted. Any custmizatins t the System actins in the ADM_Cmmand and/r ADM_ActinCmmand tables will be verwritten upn upgrade. If new custm actins are added thrugh the user interface, thse will nt be lst during future upgrade. The PwerShell cmmands that are installed and stred in the SQL database shuld nt be mdified as they may be lst during an upgrade. 1. Dwnlad the install executable file f the new versin frm the FTP site and save it n the server. After yu have finished dwnlading, the Desktp icn will appear. 2. Duble-click the executable file. 3. An install wizard cnfirmatin message appears. Click Yes t cntinue with the upgrade. 4. The wizard screen appears. Click Next t cntinue. 5. The Database Server Lgin screen appears. The wizard detects the server lcatin and credential infrmatin f the existing SMART AD Migratr install. Click Next t cntinue. Nte that if yu chse t install t a database ther than the existing database, previus changes made t the views will be lst. 6. The Ready t Install screen appears. Click Install t begin the installatin. 7. The Files in Use screen appears. Chse t autmatically clse and attempt t restart the applicatins r t nt clse the applicatins. Mdifying, Repairing and Uninstalling SMART AD Migratr SMART AD Migratr can be mdified, repaired, r uninstalled frm the Prgrams and Features upgraded t a new versin withut uninstalling the existing versin. The install wizard will detect the necessary changes and manage the upgrade. 1. Open Prgrams and Features by clicking the Windws Start buttn, clicking Cntrl Panel, and clicking Prgrams and Features. 2. Select Binary Tree SMART Active Directry Migratr frm the list f prgrams and click Change. 3. The wizard screen appears displaying the fllwing ptins. Select ne f the fllwing ptins and click Next: Mdify use the Mdify ptin t add and subtract cmpnents f SMART AD Migratr. Repair use the Repair ptin if SMART AD Migratr needs t be repaired due t crruptin. Remve use the Remve ptin t uninstall SMART AD Migratr. Installing and Cnfiguring SQL Server Reprting Services Installing SQL Server Reprting Services These instructins are fr existing SQL Server installs where reprting services are being added. 1. Lad the ISO int the DVD drive. 2. Open My Cmputer. 3. Duble-click n the DVD drive t run the SQL Server Installatin Center dialg. 4. Select Installatin frm the left. 5. Select New installatin r add features t an existing installatin. 6. Click the OK buttn n the Setup Suprt Rules page if everything passed. 7. Click the Install buttn n the SQL Setup Files page. 8. Click the Next buttn n the Setup Suprt Rules page if everything passed. 9. Select Add features t an existing instance f SQL Server 2008 R2 (verify yur instance is shwn). 10. Click the Next buttn. 11. Check the Reprting Services bx and click the Next buttn. 12. Click the Next buttn n Installatin Rules. 13. Click the Next buttn n Disk Space Requirements. 14. Click in the Accunt Name field and select NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE. 15. Click the Next buttn. 16. Click the Next buttn n the Reprting Services Cnfiguratin t Install, but d nt cnfigure the reprt server ptin. 17. Click the Next buttn. 18. Click the Next buttn n Installatin Cnfiguratin Rules page if everything passed. 19. Click the Install buttn n the Ready t Install page. 20. Verify 'Create a new reprt server database' is selected and click the Next buttn. 3. Set yur security type and click the Next buttn. 4. Leave the defaults. Verify 'Reprt Server Mde' is set t 'Native' (Reprting will fail t wrk if nt in Native Mde) 5. Click the Next buttn. 6. Click the Next buttn. 7. Click the Next buttn and it will begin t cnfigure the database. 8. Click the Finish buttn. 6. Select Web Service URL frm the left pane. 1. Click the Apply buttn. 7. 25 Verifying the Reprt Server URL The Reprt Server URL is needed when installing the Reprting feature. Use the fllwing steps t verify the crrect URL t use. 1. Open up Reprting Services Cnfiguratin Manager. 2. Prvide the SQL Server Name and Reprt Server Instance name and click Cnnect. 3. In the left flder navigatin, select Web Service URL. 4.
