This will allow us to continue offering NNP experiences throughout program. Total Clinical hours would be 1064 hours or 19 credits of clinical. Note: National Certification Corporation (NCC) requires successful completion of an accredited graduate nurse practitioner program that meets NCC program requirements and prepares neonatal nurse practitioners. Thus, graduates will be eligible to take the NNP certification exam upon completion of the program.

4 Course # Course Title Credits Catalog/Course Description First Semester NURS 715 Ethical Concepts and Issues in Advanced Practice Nursing 2 This course is designed to provide students with core ethical knowledge necessary to describe and analyze ethical concepts foundational the advanced practice nursing role. Students will develop and evaluate strategies, including ethical decision making frameworks, to address ethical dilemmas inherent in patient care, health organizations and research. NURS 771 Physical Assessment for Advanced Practice Nursing NURS 770 Pathophysiology for Advanced Practice Nursing NURS 800 DNP I: Introduction to Health Disparities & Vulnerable Populations Second Semester NURS 761 Pharmacology for Advanced Practice Nursing NURS 709 Evidence-Based Research and Theories 3 Emphasis is on advanced history taking, physical assessment and interviewing skills for advanced practice nursing. Advanced practice students will be provided with hands-on opportunities to practice physical assessment skills across the lifespan. 3 This course explains the pathophysiology of disease as a basis for advanced practice and assessment for prevention and management of health conditions across the lifespan. 2 This course focuses on four DNP integrative concepts including leadership, advocacy, practice, and translational research. Issues related to planning and providing care for vulnerable and underserved populations will be highlighted. The role of epidemiology will be explored. 3 This course will develop and enhance the advanced practice nurse s knowledge of pharmacological management of the patient. Expanded knowledge and application of advanced pharmacologic concepts across the lifespan will build upon previous elemental concepts in pharmacology and pharmacotherapeutics obtained in undergraduate education and clinical practice 3 This course focuses on the development of advanced nursing knowledge related to the utilization of evidence-based research for best practice. Nursing and nonnursing models, concepts, and theories as the supporting framework for professional nursing practice and research will be explored. Emphasis is placed on the evaluation and application of research and evidence for use in advanced practice.

6 Course # Course Title Credits Catalog/Course Description Second Semester, continued NURS 789 Developmental - Neonatal Physiology 2 This course provides an in-depth examination of human genetics, embryologic development and normal physiologic functioning of developing body systems. Mechanisms involved in cell division, gametogenesis, and inheritance patterns are addressed. The structural and functional development of fetal systems, during critical periods, is emphasized. Abnormalities and alterations in fetal development are explored. NURS 802 The Business of Advance Nursing Practice 3 This course will explore and utilize the principles of business, finance and health law to aid students in developing plans for practice-level and/or systems oriented clinical initiatives to improve patient care. The course will focus on SWOT analysis, developing business plans and community assessments. Course # Course Title Credits Catalog/Course Description Third Semester NURS 790 Foundations of Advanced Neonatal Nursing 3 The foundations of neonatal care including, but not limited to delivery room resuscitation, ventilator management, fluid and electrolyte balance, and insertion and maintenance of vascular lines is the focus of this course. NURS 791 NURS 791 NURS 792 NURS 793 Advanced Neonatal Nursing: Practicum I Assessment of the Child-Bearing Family Pharmacology for Advanced Neonatal Nursing Fourth Semester NURS 794 Advanced Neonatal Nursing: 2 The development of foundational skills associated with the physical assessment and management of the neonate, is the focus of this practicum experience. Co- Requisite: NURS Assessment and strategies for managing the issues, concerns and needs of the child-bearing family with a sick neonate is the focus of this course. 3 This course offers scientific inquiry into the use of pharmacologic agents in the advanced nursing care of infants, including fetal, neonatal life and early childhood. Pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, drug use in pregnancy and lactation, pharmacologic agents used in disease prevention and treatment, drug monitoring and drug safety in the home are explored. 3 An organ systems approach is used to explore the diagnosis and management of high risk neonatal conditions. Co-Requisite: NURS 796

Co-Requisite: NURS This course utilizes a journal club approach, and is designed to acquaint the advance practice neonatal nurse with issues associated with the management of chronic and complex clinical problems. Emphasis is on the identification of clinical conditions requiring timely referral for diagnosis and treatment. Topics will include, but are not limited to genetics and congenital conditions, palliative/end-of-life care, and complications of prematurity. Co-Requisite: NURS 794 & NURS An organ systems approach is used to explore the diagnosis and management of high risk neonatal conditions. Co-Requisite: NURS The focus of this course is on the accurate diagnosis and management of high risk neonatal clinical problems. Co-Requisite: NURS This course focuses on the research process used to conduct practice-based research. It prepares advanced practice nurses to develop, implement, and evaluate programs that focus on improving healthcare outcomes. Co-Requisite: NURS 865 or NURS This course is designed to provide the Advanced Practice Nurse with the knowledge and skills to practice at an advanced level in a practice-based setting. Focus will be on enhanced clinical skills and evidence-based research. Co-Requisite: NURS 805

Specific focus will be on the development of a personal strategic plan for impacting healthcare. NURS 806 NURS 866 Proposal Development and Database Management DNP Clinical Practicum II Seventh Semester NURS 867 DNP Clinical Practicum III NURS 803 Leadership and Interprofessional Practice in Healthcare 4 This research course is designed to provide the Advanced Practice Nurse with knowledge and skills regarding the design and methodology used to conduct a practice focused research study. Focus will be on human subject s protection, statistical analysis and database management. This course will be a continuation of content covered in 805. Pre-requisite: NURS 805. Co-requisite: NURS 866 or NURS This course is designed to provide the Advanced Practice Nurse with the knowledge and skills to practice at an advanced level in a practice-based setting. Focus will be on evidence-based practice, teamwork, evidence-based research, and advanced clinical diagnostics. Focus will be on proposal development and human subject s protection. Co-requisite: NURS This course is designed to provide the Advanced Practice Nurse with the knowledge and skills to practice as an expert clinician, a program evaluator, and a team leader within a practice-based setting focusing on evidence-based practice. Focus will be on the role of healthcare technology in practice. 3 This course will prepare interprofessional health care students to explore organizational and structural opportunities and barriers within healthcare organizations. The focus is on the role of the health care professional as a leader and manager within healthcare organizations. Emphasis is on meeting the healthcare needs of underserved populations. Leadership skills in emotional intelligence, human relations, organizational culture, effective patterns of communication and

9 NURS 807 Informatics and Healthcare Technology Eighth Semester NURS 868 DNP Clinical Practicum IV synergistic decision-making will accent this course. Students will develop strategies to address ethical dilemmas in healthcare through leadership roles. 3 This course will explore the use of health information technology (HIT) and nursing informatics to support implementation and evaluation of evidence-evidenced based practice. It will cover the use of technology in health care (i.e., telehealth, social media, clinical decisions support, and electronic health records) as a means of improving healthcare and healthcare delivery. Students will develop skills to address health disparities by leveraging informatics and healthcare information technology to improve individual and population health outcomes for vulnerable populations. 3 This course is designed to provide the Advanced Practice Nurse with the knowledge and skills to practice as an expert clinician, a program evaluator, a team leader, and a change agent with emphasis on translational and evidence-based research. Focus will be on disseminating findings to influence practice and policy. Co-requisite: NURS 890. NURS 890 Nursing Capstone 3 This research course is designed to facilitate the ability of the Advanced Practice Nurse to synthesize, translate into practice, and disseminate practice focused research findings and apply findings to practice settings. Co-requisite: NURS 868 or 819. NURS 809 Advocacy and Health Care Policy for Advanced Practice 3 This course will prepare the advanced practice nurse to assume a leadership role in developing, implementing, and advocating for health care policy that results in quality, accessible, comprehensive health care focusing on health disparities and vulnerable populations. Students will explore alternative models for engaging in advocacy at the advanced practice level and critically analyze health policy that is designed to address systems of care for vulnerable populations from social, political, and economic perspectives.
