4 VUE Testing Services Pearson VUE delivers electronic test and certification capabilities to the public and private sector of the education industry VUE administers thousands of tests monthly in more than 3,500 third-party testing centers in 130 countries Many of the testing centers are located within IT Training and Education Centers Student users can visit the VUE website to learn about, register, and pay for tests One of the unique features of VUE is that it uses adaptive testing techniques, which alters the questions the student is asked depending upon answers given 4

7 IRS Case Study Assessing the core competencies and training needs of workforce The Challenge The IRS realized it needed to take aggressive action to improve customer satisfaction at all levels and the performance of its current workforce in order to meet the growing demands from both taxpayers and the Congressional oversight Committees The Goal Develop a agency-wide Performance Development System that implements new workforce competency and reengineering models in order to fill employee gaps The Approach Pearson worked with IRS leaders to develop a modern workforce reengineering program Pearson designed and validated new workforce competency models for various positions Competency models were approved by IRS subject matter experts and union representatives These models drove development of over 20 new competency-based training needs assessment tools for the selected positions Assessment tools were used as the building block of the Individual Development Plans (IDPs) of IRS employees Conducted rigorous validated studies to meet IRS guidelines The Results Assessed over 30,000 IRS employees for core competencies Performed outcomes studies to document changes in performance post training intervention Demonstrated overall gains in customer service, problem solving, and other selected competencies Documented overall performance gains ranging from 2-5% for certain employees Economic analysis study translated performance gain to $102 million in annual savings Expand Performance Development System to other IRS occupations 7
