5 Background/Context: Journey began in 1997 Robust integration of an Electronic Health Record (EHR) NetCare Development of a shared health record (meshing of an EMR with NetCare)

6 Background/Context: Incorporation of the Pharmaceutical Information Network (PIN) with simultaneous EMR/EHR integration and access Patient Portal (NetCare) for general public access in 2011 (myhealth.alberta.ca)

7 NetCare encompasses all the projects, processes, products, and services that work together to make Alberta's EHR a reality EHR Portal is an important tool for physicians, pharmacists and other health services professionals, providing up to date available information at the point of care "every Albertan will have an electronic health record by January 2008"(Govt. of Alberta 2005)

8 PIN Alberta s Integrated Approach Information about prescribed dispensed drugs is captured and included within Netcare PIN, a separate drug information management system seamlessly integrated into Alberta Netcare EHR Portal to support access to prescribed drug and Over the Counter (OTCs) drug information.

11 POSP Alberta s Integrated Approach assists physicians in the province to purchase computers and medical software to improve their practices and patient care monetary, change management and system coaching support
