As usual our entertainment committee knocked it out of the park. Thanks Al, Julie, Paul, Anna, Joe & Cherise for all your hard work. It was Anna's mom who brought all the wonderful corn. Thanks to all of you who worked so hard on the landscape project on Saturday, August 6 th ; it's amazing what this Club can do when we all work together. I can't believe school starts this week, so try to enjoy what s left of summer on your boat or at the pool. Hope to see you at the Mentor Off-Shore races on August Vice Commodore s Comments Larry Schwenk Hi Everyone ~ It is hard to believe that September is right around the corner. The pool is 99 percent done and work in the Clubhouse is underway. I am trying to figure out a way to have a tailgate Brown's game party sometime in September, so keep an eye out for information. Rear Commodore s Comments Gayle Feldman Dale Cover I must start by thanking the Ladies Auction for providing the funds for the repairs and upgrades to the perimeter decks around the whole Club. Second, I need to thank the members who stepped up to help with the repairs. In as much as the repairs will take place almost concurrently with this publication I don't know specifically who to thank, but thanks all the same. Next on my plate is to change gears and move forward on the Clubhouse renovation. You'll notice we have begun working inside now. Please let me know if you are available to lend a hand inside.

4 Fleet Captain s Comments No report. Al Vlach Treasurer s Report Winter storage contracts, yes, I know it s over 6 weeks away, will be sent to you via before the end of September. First scheduled lift out is October 1. The price will be the same as last year - $9/ft. LOA. If you don't receive the contract in your , please let me know. I will also have blank copies available in the Clubhouse. Please remember that your boat cannot be lifted without the Winter Storage Contract and payment in full prior to the lift out. Also, if you are in arrears on your contractual obligation, you cannot be lifted. Everyone is responsible for 20 'Project Hours' this year. If you need hours, please see Rear Commodore, Dale Cover. He will be needing help with the Clubhouse project portion, which is starting now. If you have any questions regarding your financial obligation, please see or call me. Secretary s Report The leaves are starting to fall already. Hard to believe fall is just a month away. Last month I sent out an electronic version of the latest version of the Lake County Yacht Club Constitution, Bylaws and Rules. I sent it to the address you provided in the roster book, plus a few addresses that have been provided to me individually. This is the method and format that will be used for all future updates, so please take a few minutes to make sure you received them. If you received the document electronically, but would like to change the address I use for you, or would like to add another one, please send me an with your preferences and I am happy to make the adjustments. If you did not receive the document electronically, but have an address, let me know what it is so I can figure out what happened and send you the document. If you don't have an address, please make arrangements to see me. P/C Dawn Brewer generously donated her resources to make some paper copies which I will share with you. Please save the Club the cost of mailing them. It is the hope of the Bylaw Committee that the electronic format will be more timely, easier to access anywhere, more efficient and more economical. Entertainment Report P/C John Kromar Deborah Zinner Al & Julie Dubeansky The date of the fish tournament and fish fry has been changed to September 24th. Due to us being out of town that weekend, P/C Dawn Brewer has volunteered to chair this event. Dawn will need help preparing and cooking the fish for dinner. Please see her if you are able to help. See the attached flyer for tournament rules and details regarding the fish dinner. Thanks Dawn for your help with this event!! LCYC Golf Outing The LCYC Annual Golf Outing will be held at St. Denis Golf Club on Saturday September 17, A highlight of the evening is the awarding of golf and raffle prizes. Your donation will make this part of the outing a tremendous success. We are requesting a $ donation as a Hole Sponsor. As a Hole Sponsor, a professional sign will be placed on one of the golf holes. You will also receive recognition at dinner via the program and additional signage. We also hope that you will join us for a fun day at the course. Please make your checks payable to Jerry Schaffer. 5 Sunshine Report Ellie Chalko developed severe intestinal problems. We all need to pray she will get to feeling better soon. A gift basket was sent. Tony Caputo pulled a tendon in his shoulder. So far he doesn't need surgery, but it will be a long recovery. A card was sent. Tom Sanzo's daughter, Renee, had open thoracic surgery. She is now recovering at Tom and Nancy's home. I'm sure she is getting very good care. A card was sent. A note from Donna, P/C Jerry & Joan Catalano s daughter: My Dad s had a rough summer. The chemo/radiation seriously affected his kidneys, so he was pulled off of those cancer treatments so we can concentrate on getting his kidneys stronger. He is getting a little better each week. My mom is still on oral chemo, but continues to hold her own. So, we just keep plugging along. P/C Mike Polovic recently had back surgery. He then had shoulder surgery for the third time. In five weeks he will have even more shoulder surgery. He can't do much. A care package was sent. Don't forget to let me know the latest happenings (good or bad). or call me at The Ladies Luncheon/Chinese Auction is fast approaching. Tickets for the event are $15.00 and go on sale starting Friday, September 9. Contact Debbie Gudowicz to reserve your ticket. After September 16, they go on sale to the general public. Don t get shut out! As you can imagine an event of this magnitude is only successful with the help and support of its Club members. We are asking that each member make a contribution to the auction. It can be time, talent and/or treasure. By definition treasure means new items not used. We are in need of: individual items to create baskets, already completed baskets, and even cash ~ we will do the shopping for you. We also need large empty baskets. If you won something in past years, consider donating your empty basket back so that you can win it again. A flyer is attached with more details and basket suggestions. 7 LCYC Perch Tournament/Dinner Saturday, September 24 Rules 1. A horn will sound off at 8:00a to initiate start of contest. At that time all boats can leave the dock. 2. All boats must be back at the dock by 1:30p. 3. Up to four (4) fishermen/women are permitted per boat. Any boats over 4 people fishing will be disqualified. 4. All participants must pay a $10.00 entrance fee, in advance. 5. Only qualifying species of fish is Perch. 6. All perch must be caught with hook & line the day of the tournament. 7. All entrants must have a valid fishing license to participate or otherwise will be disqualified. 8. All state regulations apply. 9. Boats issuing false fishing reports will be disqualified. 10. Each participant/boat is responsible for their own bait. 11. Team prizes will be awarded for the largest five (5) perch by weight per boat team ~ 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd place. 12. To qualify for highest team weight, coolers MUST be in the pavilion for weigh-in NO LATER THAN 1:30 PM. Sign-up by September 23 rd in the Clubhouse.
