4 How will you learn? Our curriculum is designed to give you a broad and in-depth understanding of modern computing systems. It also focuses on preparing you for a successful professional future, with a real focus on hands-on learning. With a curriculum spanning everything from software development to important applications (for instance artificial intelligence, computer graphics and multimedia), you will graduate well-prepared for a future in computer science related field. As you discover which areas of this exciting field interest you most, you can specialize with technical electives. At the end of your junior year, you will take a summer training course, spending 180 hours as an employee in a company in order to develop workplace skills. Once you reach your senior year, you will take part in a Capstone Experience a two-course research or development project that will test your skills and knowledge, prove your teamworking talents, prepare you for the workplace, allow you to show your creative skills and contribute to the field through your own new applications. What will you learn? Effat University aims to set standards of excellence in Computer Science and has created a curriculum to meet the National Commission for Academic Accreditation and Assessment s standards and the international ABET accreditation standards.

5 Objectives we focus on include: Knowledge Skills Building on a firm foundation of liberal arts knowledge, you will learn the theory, concepts and practical applications of computer hardware and software. You will become proficient in software development, and understand the positive impact IT can have on human lives. Cognitive Skills You will be confident and proficient in designing, implementing, diagnosing and solving problems and making critical evaluations of computer systems. You will also be able to use available computer applications effectively to create optimal solutions to real-life problems. Interpersonal Skills and Responsibility We believe in equipping you with more than just technical skills you will develop strong ethics and teamworking abilities, timekeeping skills and a responsible, professional approach. You will also understand the importance of IT on a local, national and international scale. Practical skills for a successful future As well as meeting statutory requirements, Effat University courses help you develop problem-solving and practical skills so you are confident in the workplace. By graduation, you will be confident applying your knowledge of mathematics, science and statistics to construct both hardware and software systems. Your knowledge of software systems will see you designing systems and applications, and you will be capable of developing, testing, analyzing and improving software, based on the needs of the client or institution you are working for. You will have a broad understanding of where computer solutions may be used, be able to manage existing applications and train others how to use them effectively. Though we welcome students from a diverse range of backgrounds, we will look for the following qualifications (or equivalent): 12 years basic education A high school certificate Good oral and written English skills As our classes are conducted in English, you will need a minimum of 520 ITP points or 68 ibt points and a TWE of 5 for an unconditional offer or to complete a proficiency test. What will you need to graduate? A Grade Point Average of 2.0 or higher A successful Senior Research Project 133 credits gained within 8 12 semesters (including Summer) These credits should break down as: 42 credit hours of General Education 67 credit hours of Computer Sciences courses 15 credit hours of technical electives within Computer Sciences or related fields 9 credit hours of free electives
