6 SAVE : Systems for UAV Alternative Energy Aim of the project is the study of new, more efficient, more effective and more environment-friendly on-board systems for advanced Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV). Investigate possible ways for reducing criticality due to energy consumption related to long endurance Design new efficient solutions for Propulsive Power and for Secondary Power Systems (Hybrid Configuration, characterized by starter/generators and fuel cells)
7 FTAR: Future Technologies for Air-refuelling The aim is to identify technologies and procedures for performing completely autonomous in-flight air-refuelling with a manned aircraft (Mother Ship). Relevant aspects are: sensors and complementary devices for positioning signal processing to manage multi-sensor systems flight control AAR technologies (probe&drogue, boom)
8 MIDCAS: Mid Air Collision Avoidance System The aim is to demonstrate the baseline of solutions for the UAS Mid-air Collision Avoidance Function, acceptable by the manned aviation community, compatible with UAS operations in nonsegregated airspace. Progress on Standards for S&A Design of a generic S&A function to be tested in simulations Design of a S&A demonstrator to be tested in flight Close cooperation with European regulatory bodies Interactive dialogue with major stakeholders to inform about progress and receive feedback
9 SeaBILLA: Sea Borders Surveillance System SeaBILLA is an IP funded under the 7 FP Security. SeaBILLA aims at: defining the architecture for cost-effective European Sea Border Surveillance systems, integrating space, land, sea and air assets, including legacy systems applying advanced technological solutions to increase performances of surveillance functions developing and demonstrating significant improvements in detection, tracking, identification and automated behaviour analysis of all vessels, including hard to detect vessels, in open waters as well as close to coast.
10 MALET: Techs for high altitude and long endurance UAS The project aims at: Acquiring technologies for developing an innovative propulsion system for MALE/HALE UAV. Find technological solutions that make an internal combustion engine delivers enough power even at a high altitude, within the aeronautical constraint of weight/power ratio. A very promising propulsive system that will be studied is based on a two-stroke engine with direct injection electronically controlled (common rail).
11 SMAT: Advanced Monitoring System based on UAS SMAT is a research project having as main objective the definition, design and development of an advanced monitoring system for critical infrastructures and environmental surveillance: Territory surveillance aimed at planning Monitoring of specific areas aimed at prevention Surveillance of areas subject to natural disasters (landslides, floods, earthquakes, fires) Border patrol Surveillance of areas subject to human intervention.
