2 3.6 To recognize some of the basic medico-legal and malpractice issues that confront healthcare professionals and how medical malpractice relates to physician assistants. 3.7 To understand the various professional organizations within the PA profession; AAPA, PAEA, ARC-PA, NCCPA, AAPPA, etc. 3.8 To distinguish some of the different role responsibilities, duties, and Codes of Conduct of PAs within various medical disciplines. 3.9 To develop an understanding of some of the key trends and workforce issues within the profession today To recognize the essence of professionalism in the role of a physician assistant To recognize various issues accompanying stress, burnout, and self care in the work force today To understand certification, licensure, state registration, and recertification in the PA profession. 4.0 Course description Introduces the student to the role of the physician assistant in relationship to patients, supervising physicians, colleagues and other physician assistants. Emphasis is on developing a high degree of professionalism in conjunction with health care.
