At-A-Glance Case Study Client: U.S. Air Force Situation: In order to deploy a ground-based radar system on their flight lines and air base ground defense security applications, the U.S. Air Force sought to implement a rules-based system that would let them define the characteristics and movement of a possible intruder and program the details into a video motion detection system. But they also needed to minimize the high number of false alarms common to that type of system. Honeywell s goal was to provide a costeffective way for the base to integrate all of the third party groundbased radar sensors they had recently purchased and display information from those sensors on one interface. Results: Honeywell integrated the ground-based radar intrusions with the video motion detection intrusions into the V 5 Access Control System. By combining characteristics of both video motion detection and ground-based radar, we successfully demonstrated that Honeywell s Vindicator integrated security solutions can identify intruders with a very high probability of detection and also filter out false alarms. Although this specific integration effort was installed for the U.S. Air Force, several other Department of Defense entities have proposed Vindicator solutions because of these unique interfaces.
