2 What is the PMP Credential? o The Project Management Professional (PMP ) is a professional credential offered through the Project Management Institute (PMI) and is one of the world s most widely recognized professional credentials. By obtaining the PMP credential, you demonstrate a commitment to the profession of project management. This is a global certificate! 4 Qualifications to Sit for the PMP Exam At the time of the application, the candidate must meet the following requirements: Educational Background Bachelors Degree or Global Equivalent High School Diploma, Associates Degree, or Global Equivalent Project Management Experience* Minimum 3Yrs/36 Mos unique nonoverlapping professional project management experience during which at least 4500 are spent leading and directing project tasks** Minimum 5Yrs/60 Mos unique nonoverlapping professional project management experience during which at least 7500 are spent leading and directing project tasks** Project Management Education 35 contact hours of formal education 35 contact hours of formal education * Project management experience must be accrued within eight years of the date of application ** Leading and directing project tasks as identified in the PMP examination specification. Within the total hours of project management experience, experience in all five-process groups is required. However, on a single project, you do not need to have experience in all five-process groups

5 Unique Non-Overlapping Experience: Months of Project Management Experience Each month in which you worked on multiple, overlapping projects is to count as one month toward the total months of unique non-overlapping professional project management experience. Hours that You Led or Directed Project Tasks Consider all of the projects that you have worked on and identify how many hours you led or directed project tasks. If you worked on multiple projects at one time, all the hours spent leading and directing project tasks count toward the requirement

6 35 Hours of Project Management Education: At least 35 contact hours of specific instruction that addresses learning objectives in project management. The course work must be completed at the time of application. 8 The PMP Exam o The PMP examination is comprised of 200 multiple-choice questions. o Of the 200 questions, 25 are considered pretest questions. Pretest questions do not affect the score and are used in examinations as an effective and legitimate way to test the validity of future examination questions. o Questions are based on primarily on PMBOK; however not all. o Most questions are situational questions that require you to apply both your knowledge and your experience to answer correctly. o The exam time is 4 hours.
