GP s, Medical Centers, Clinic s DHB s Nationwide. Patients and their families Purpose : To assist in management of all aspects of the ACC Treatment Injury registrations. To identify and co-develop improvements relevant to ACC. To run ACC Treatment Injury related projects and education programs To provide a high standard of service to patients, staff, ACC, and other health providers. To be an integral part of an increasingly efficient Unit. To optimise DHB revenue through active and accurate identification of ACC cases. 2 KEY TASKS Deliver on a strategy for Treatment Injury Registration Aligns approaches and activities with Quality and Risk (Q&R) To ensure the ethical and responsible administration of treatment injury claims Ensure that a positive working relationship is maintained with our internal and external clients To ensure an accurate paper trail is kept on all activities EXPECTED OUTCOMES An efficient and functional system for treatment injury registrations optimises and rationalizes all activities for all parties involved in the treatment injury registration process Close co-operation with Quality and Risk provides timely service and ensures alignment with Q&R objectives. Fast and accurate responses to Q&R requests ensure excellent customer service to patients and their families in distress. A trusting environment is created for all parties involved in the treatment injury registration process The patient s best interests are at the center of all activities. A stress free, healthy work environment allows open exchange with maximization of treatment injury registrations Auditable documentation is available on request at any time. Give specialist support to other staff Enable insightful learning and growth of coworkers. Provide ongoing and quality education on Treatment Injury legislation and on the subject of what constitutes a treatment injury Clinical and clerical staff have an excellent understanding of the legal requirement to register medical events or clerical events that might result in a treatment injury. Junior staff is especially educated on the clinical aspects of treatment injuries to improve recognition and compliance with the registration process Provide regular feedback and reports to management Give meaningful insight into ongoing activities o Type of injuries registered o Acceptance vs declines monitoring o Compliance with the registration process Liaise with ACC services in other DHBs and with ACC staff on a regular basis. 3 KEY TASKS To ensure all billable events within the administration of the treatment injury process are captured and submitted to the Revenue Specialist EXPECTED OUTCOMES Accurate invoicing of billable activities associated with the treatment injury administration process Run and participate in projects To contribute to the development of a highly functional and revenue efficient ACC related service within WDHB and to develop the integration into all clinical services Research patient event data to identify potential treatment injury events. All resources are considered and exploited fully to achieve best outcome. Preparation of invoice requests pertaining to treatment injury events. Unidentified events that may pertain to treatment injuries are identified by developing regular reports and regularly reviewing these reports. Identified services relating to accepted treatment injury events are invoiced retrospectively. All supportive information is provided to ACC to ensure full payment. General duties and requirements of the ACC Unit Support general administration processes as required Contribute to the development and growth of the ACC Unit. Contribute to joint initiatives with other DHBs Supports Quality improvement processes WDHB quality improvement initiatives are supported by collecting identified key data and providing meaningful feedback of registered Treatment Injury Cases to Q&R Support the units buddy system for staff on leave Business continuation is guaranteed when key staffs are on leave.
