2 Relationships between the ROTC Programs & VTCC ROTC Programs (all three: Air Force, Army, Naval including Marine Option) Federal, with active duty military Second Major Must be a member of the Corps to be in ROTC Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets (VTCC) Division of Student Affairs at Virginia Tech No military service required, ROTC is not mandatory for Corps members

3 You have Virginia Tech Military-Leader Track Army ROTC Top performing Senior Military College (SMC) based on performance at Cadet Summer Training in Fort Knox, Kentucky Highest retention and commissioning rate of any SMC Air Force ROTC 6 of 145 Detachments in Officer Production, AFSOPT key feeder to active duty AF Special Forces 90.5% selection rate for a rated slot (pilot, CSO, etc.) for those academically and physically qualified (Compare to 55% nation-wide!) Naval ROTC Commissioned seven (7) SEAL candidates in the past four years #1 graduate from Marine Option Officer Candidate School #1 Midshipman in the country 2014 Citizen-Leader Track ALL majors and every career you can imagine! Over 70% had a job/grad school offer up to 6 months prior to graduation for the last 2 years U.S. Coast Guard Association Direct Commissioning Program with the U.S. Coast Guard (DCS) If selected, only 4 weeks of training after college to become a Coast Guard Officer

7 Class Requirements ROTC class (Military Track) - Lecture (twice a week) - Lab (Tuesday at 3:30pm) - Physical training (dictated by branch) Leadership Lab (Citizen Leader Track) - Lecture (Tuesday at 3:30pm) - Physical training Corps Lab (ALL cadets) - Academic understanding of leadership - Reflection on experiences - Guest speakers

8 Corps Leadership Minor Requirements: ROTC class (Military Track) OR Leadership Lab (Citizen Leader Track) with supplemental business classes from Pamplin Corps Lab (ALL cadets) Two successful leadership positions in the Corps of Cadets Translates the value of your leadership development in a 24 hour leadership learning laboratory!

Audition during Summer Orientation to determine level of proficiency all levels are automatically accepted Band lives together all four years very tight knit cadet-run band A company in the Corps - not an additional activity on top of your cadet responsibilities will have same study hours as other companies Travel Opportunities - Mardi Gras in New Orleans (Spring 2015), Macy s Thanksgiving Parade in NY, St Patrick s Parade in Savannah Other Corps musical opportunities - Southern Colonels (a jazz band with vocals), Brass Quintet, String Quartet

20 Applying to the Corps Virginia Tech Admissions Application Section 2: Do you wish to enroll in the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets? Yes Apply for free! Automatically considered for an Emerging Leader Scholarship (at least 200 awarded every year!)

21 Emerging Leader Scholarship $8,000 In-State Total $12,000 Out-of-State Total Apply & be accepted into VT as a cadet File a FAFSA every year Cadet applicants will automatically be considered based on their VT admissions application
