25 US News - Best Online Education Programs Bachelor's Programs Faculty Credentials and Student Services and Overall Student Engagement Peer Assessment Total Training Technology Rank School Score Rank Score Rank Score Rank Score Score Enrollment 3 Pace University St. John's University Marist College DePaul University Mercy College RNP 1,436 Changes to the 215 Ranking Indicator Weights: In the faculty credentials and training category, the weight for tenured faculty has been reduced from 2 percent to 8 percent. This reduction was made because online bachelor's programs tend to have less of a research focus than face-to-face undergraduate programs. The 12 percentage point difference was distributed proportionately among the other ranking indicators in the same category. Methodology: A. Per US News, questionnaires were sent to regionally accredited institutions that grant bachelor's degrees. B. Of the institutions that replied, 297 (17%) offer or will be offering an online bachelor's degree program. This count is increased from 283 in 214. C. All student and faculty statistical data are of July 1, 213-June 3, 214 cohorts, while the remaining data are of policies, services, and technologies in place at the time of the questionnaire completion in the summer 214. D. Programs whose overall scores are in the bottom 25 percent are categorized as Rank Not Published. Numerical ranks were calculated for these schools but not published. E. 1 schools are designated as unranked because they reported having fewer than 1 students enrolled or because their programs were less than a year old at the time of data collection. Numerical rank was not calculated for these schools. F. Each program was sent two surveys for peer assessments. Between October and November 214, academics responded by evaluating the academic quality of the other online bachelor's degree programs listed on the survey on a scale of 1 (marginal) to 5 (outstanding), or by responding "don't know" about any program with which they were unfamiliar. G. To increase the number of ratings for a better representation of schools, U.S. News aggregated the peer reputation data collected in 214 with data collected in 213 and 212. In total, 239 surveys completed by academics at schools with online bachelor's programs were used. H. The two highest and lowest scores for each school in all three years were trimmed from the totals before calculating the average peer score among those who rated the program. I. Many schools in the 215 ranking are first-time participants, 56 of the 287 ranked schools were not included in the peer reputation survey and did not receive any ratings. For ranking purposes, these schools were assigned the median peer reputation score for the current edition of the rankings only. Their reputation data will not be published or carried over into future rankings calculations.
