1 Job Description Business Analyst / Developer Job Element Detail Job Title Business Analyst / Developer Reporting To David Morrow Chief Architect for Business Intelligence (in turn to ) Chris Ellis Solutions Delivery Manager Department/Location Business Intelligence Practice / Birmingham ( with Travel ) Main Purpose Ridgian identify Business Analysis as the process of understanding business change needs, assessing the impact of those changes, capturing, analysing and documenting requirements and then supporting the communication and delivery of those requirements with relevant parties 60% of the role is focused upon requirements gathering, providing gap analysis, listening to client s ideas, designing and then ultimately aligning Ridgian Software solutions to meet and exceed client expectations when analysing potential project requirements 40% of the role is focused on the Development of Business Intelligence solutions Job Description Page 1 of 5

2 Duties & Responsibilities The Team: To work as part of a team or individually on single or multiple projects delivering full BA and development lifecycle solutions, escalating any issues to the appropriate stakeholder Working closely with other staff, such as Business Development Managers, Project Managers, Ridgian Directors, Delivery Specialists and Testing Teams to ensure all business requirements are fully and properly recorded and documented Projects: To work through sales and presales recommendations defining project requirement Visiting clients and managing fact finding sessions to establish road maps and requirements To bring these ideas back to the office and then discuss findings within the appropriate teams To manage expectations and advise BDM s on proposal lead times Working within agreed time guidelines Prioritising proposals and requirements and communicating these effectively and confidently To promote and champion best practices around Business Intelligence functionality. Promoting the business and commercial benefits of Business Intelligence to appropriate stakeholders Travel: This role is office based but with travel to client sites where applicable Job Description Page 2 of 5

3 Communications: To be polite and commercially aware when conversing with clients verbally or electronically Conversing with Clients where appropriate to ensure successful Business gathering activity To confidently communicate both internally and externally with various teams and manage business expectations Documentation: To produce quality driven technical and functional requirements documentation To enhance existing documentation. To bring new ideas to the table around requirement gathering documents To use wire framing and other analytical methods/ tools to ensure client requirements are captured fully To use SharePoint effectively to manage internal / external documentation To capture client requirements initially from a business and commercial perspective. Then to relate technology to the document giving a complete overview of possible solutions available to clients Technical Skills Requirement Essential: A solid understanding of the entire MS BI stack (2012 and 2008 product capability experience) Development level skills in T-SQL, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS Job Description Page 3 of 5

4 Desirable: Performance Point Services Power Pivot Power View Education, Qualifications and Training: In addition to the above skills, you may also possess: ISEB foundation certificate in Business Analysis BCS Diploma in Business Analysis MCITP Business Intelligence Background It is anticipated that the successful candidate will: Have worked as a BA for a considerable amount of time.
