However, you must still have these documents with you and they must meet the relevant Home Office criteria should the UK Visas & Immigration staff request to see them. A full list of low-risk nationals can be found on the Home Office website. 20
Next, for the question Do you have an established presence in the UK?, the answer is likely to be No : If you are coming to study in the UK for the first time, the answer will be No. If you have studied in the UK before, please see the information on established presence below for further guidance. If you think that you do have established presence in the UK, please contact International Student Support to discuss your situation in more detail. Established presence principle Established presence is a principle in the Immigration Rules which determines how much money you will need to show for your maintenance. If, at the time of making your visa application, you have - A valid Tier 4 visa AND - During that visa you completed a course that was 6+ months in length then you will be required to show 2040 for maintenance. This amount must have been held in a bank account for 28 days in a row and the money must not drop below 2040 during that time. Next: as you will be taking your Pre-sessional English course at the South Kensington campus, you will be studying in Inner London. Select Inside the Inner London Boroughs Most Pre-sessional English students will not have established presence in the UK. You will be required to show that 2040 has been held in your bank account for 28 days in a row, leading up to the date of the bank statement and last transaction date. If you would like International Student Support to check the suitability of your bank statements, please a scanned copy of them to us before you submit your online visa application. 21
For the question below, write 1020 as this is the amount of GBP you need per month Select No, as this will not be mentioned on your CAS Official financial sponsor Students who are being financially sponsored by an education institution, international company, UK Government or overseas Government must select Yes to this question about financial sponsor and provide a scholarship letter with their visa application that provides the details of that sponsorship. You should only select Yes if your financial sponsor is sponsoring you during your Pre-sessional English course (in addition to your main course at Imperial College). ** Please note that parents or any other family member/friend are not considered an official financial sponsor for the purposes of your visa application. ** 22
The question asking How much in GBP( ) is the official is asking for the total amount that the sponsor is covering for your course fees and maintenance. Then you are required to provide the specific amounts for course fees and maintenance. Remember that for this visa application, the course fees refer only to the cost of the Pre-sessional English course: Total amount covering both tuition fees & maintenance 2200 *please answer 2040 if an amount is not mentioned in your scholarship letter If you have answered No to the question about financial sponsorship, proceed to the questions below and answer like this: Answer Yes to this question. 0 Write 0 because you have already paid the pre-sessional fees in full *this should match the amount of Maintenance above 23
The amount that you need to show must be either in your name (in this case answer Yes below) or in the name of a parent / legal guardian (in this case answer No ). If you select No, please give details of: - How you will show the money (e.g. an original bank statement showing the money has already been held for 28 days in a row prior to visa application date) AND - How you will prove your relationship to the person named in the bank account (e.g. a Birth Certificate + translation if not in English). - OANDA currency conversion (if currency not in GBP): All of these documents will need to be submitted with your visa application, along with a letter of consent from your parents/guardian. ** Please note that you can only use bank statements from another person if they are your parent or legal guardian. Bank statements provided by any other relative or friend are not acceptable ** Enter the points claimed as set out below:
Additional Information This text box provides you with an opportunity to provide any information relevant to your application that you may wish to explain further or you were not able to provide based upon the previous set of questions. Please check that all the information is accurate. This is your opportunity to go back into the form and make corrections if necessary. Once the application has been confirmed you will then be able to submit the form online, book your appointment and pay the application fee. 25
What happens next? After you submit your application you will be required to print off your visa application form and take this together with your supporting documents to your visa appointment.
