2 First Candle s Sponsorship Program has been developed to encourage general support of First Candle s mission, programs and services. The program also seeks to increase the profile and strengthen the reputation of its participants as companies committed to the survival and health of infants across our nation. The Sponsorship Program at First Candle offers three options for participation: Premier Sponsorship, Quality Assurance and Gifts That Give. gifts that give First Candle s Gifts That Give program allows companies to contribute a flat amount or a percentage of sales to support First Candle s mission. Benefits Use of the First Candle Gifts That Give mark on all packaging, marketing, advertising, promotional and press materials. Your company s products will be featured on a dedicated page on the First Candle website, which highlights products in First Candle s Quality Assurance (see below) and Gifts That Give programs. Your company s logo will be included in all viral marketing campaigns that promote the Gifts That Give program. Your company s designated representative will benefit from early distribution of media advisories regarding the latest in advocacy, education and research efforts and/or advancements related to infant health and survival. Your company will have immediate and direct access to quality-assured infant health messages and the ability to promote the First Candle toll-free information and crisis hotline number to your employees and constituency. For the first year, your company will be granted a six-month production grace period for logo use. Requirements All products must meet or exceed appropriate federal standards for safety and/or manufacturing. Execution of a written contract to outline the parameters of the sponsorship, identify mark ownership and usage rights and to generally protect all parties interests. First Candle operates under the Better Business Bureau guidelines for the nonprofit sector which require clear disclosure concerning sponsorships to the consumer. To comply with these guidelines, First Candle will publish on its website when funds are raised through a consumer purchase or promotion.
3 One of our key objectives is to ensure that our public health messages are available to as many consumers as possible. As such, corporate partners must agree to publish First Candle s toll-free number and website on its promotional and marketing materials. Financial Obligations Commitment of a percentage of sale for each item that carries the Gifts That Give logo. Total annual contribution must exceed a minimum of $2,500 which is to be paid upon contract execution. 3% annual increase per year. Minimum one-year commitment. Contributions are unrestricted revenue.
4 QUALITY ASSURANCE PROGRAM First Candle s Quality Assurance program helps your customers know that your product meets the highest standards of safety and that your company is committed to the health and well-being of babies across our nation. Benefits Use of the First Candle Quality Assurance mark on all packaging, marketing, advertising, promotional and press materials. Your company s products will be featured on the First Candle mall, which highlights products in First Candle s Quality Assurance program (see below). Your company s logo will be included in all viral marketing campaigns that promote the Quality Assurance program. Your company and its employees are entitled to a 5% discount on all educational materials and additional conference registrations. Your company s designated representative will benefit from early distribution of media advisories regarding the latest in advocacy, education and research efforts and/or advancements related to infant health and survival. Your company will have immediate and direct access to quality-assured infant health messages and the ability to promote the First Candle toll-free information and crisis hotline number to your employees and constituency. For the first year, your company will be granted a six-month production grace period for logo use. Requirements Product categories include juvenile products, infant personal care, toys, prenatal and pregnancy-related items, prenatal and neonatal medical items, etc. All products to be submitted for testing to applicable ASTM standards. Companies may submit test results for products that have already been tested. All products which are JPMA- or TIA-certified are also automatically certified for participation in the Quality Assurance program. Execution of a written contract to outline the parameters of the sponsorship, identify mark ownership and usage rights and to generally protect all parties interests. First Candle operates under the Better Business Bureau guidelines for the nonprofit sector which require clear disclosure concerning sponsorships to the consumer. To comply with these guidelines, First Candle will publish on its website when funds are raised through a consumer purchase or promotion.

Minimum one-year commitment. Contributions are unrestricted revenue.
6 Premiere Sponsorship We are pleased to present two levels of participation to our premiere sponsors. Gold Seal Benefits Use of the Gold Seal on all packaging, marketing, advertising, promotional and press materials. Your selected product(s) will also receive the First Candle Quality Assurance mark. Your company s logo, with a link to your website, will be placed on the First Candle home page for the duration of your Gold Seal sponsorship. Your company s products will be featured on the First Candle mall, which highlights products in First Candle s Quality Assurance program (see below). Your company s logo will be included on First Candle s weekly Illuminations e-newsletter. Your company s logo will be included in all viral marketing campaigns that promote the Quality Assurance and Gifts That Give programs Your company may elect to include approved educational and/or marketing materials in First Candle information packets which are distributed to new and expectant parents. Your company will receive a free Windflower Ball Benefactor Sponsorship Package, including one table at the gala and a full-page, four-color advertisement in the gala s program. Your company will receive a free First Candle Conference Package, including the following benefits as they are available: premiere booth space; a full-page advertisement in the conference program; a full-page insert in the conference registration packets; Gold Seal recognition in all promotional, marketing and educational materials associated with the conference; and four registrations and dinner tickets. Through First Candle s national office and its 60+ members nationwide, your company can coordinate grassroots outreach and promotional campaigns. Your company and its employees are entitled to a 15% discount on all educational materials and additional conference registrations. First Candle s national experts and researchers will be available to speak to and/or attend your company s events, trainings, workshops, conferences, etc. Your company s designated representative will benefit from early distribution of media advisories regarding the latest in advocacy, education and research efforts and/or advancements related to infant health and survival.

8 SILVER Seal Benefits Use of the Silver Seal on all packaging, marketing, advertising, promotional and press materials. Your selected product(s) will also receive the First Candle Quality Assurance mark. Your company s logo, with a link to your website, will be placed on home page of First Candle s New & Expectant Parents website section. Your company s products will be featured on the First Candle mall, which highlights products in First Candle s Quality Assurance program (see below). Your company s logo will be included in all viral marketing campaigns that promote the Quality Assurance and Gifts That Give programs. Your company may elect to include approved educational and/or marketing materials in First Candle information packets which are distributed to new and expectant parents.
