1 Blackburn Road Medical Centre Blackburn Road Birstall WF17 9PL T: (switchboard) W: SystmOnline Patient User Guide to: Booking Appointments and Ordering Repeat Prescriptions Online Please Note If medication needs re-authorising, then please contact the surgery in the usual way and explain to the reception team that you have medication which needs re-authorising. The registration process requires patients to present original ID documents IN PERSON at the surgery. In order to protect patients, this must be done by the patient themselves, so if a husband and wife want to register, then each needs to present their own documents in person. Please ask reception for further details. Patients who are registered for online access may do so by visiting: Patient Logging In Patients who would like to use the online services must contact Blackburn Road Medical Centre to obtain a username and password. Once the username and password is obtained, patients must wait approximately one hour before they can log in and use the online services. Direct access to SystmOnline The Login screen will appear: Page 1 of 11
2 To log in 1. Enter your username and password. 2. Click Login. The SystmOnline Home page will be displayed showing the services available. Page 2 of 11
3 3. Patients can access the available services from here, and can return to the Home page by clicking Home on the menu bar, or Back on any page. To Book an Appointment Click Book Appointment and you will be shown a list of appointments which are available for online booking: Decide which appointment you would like to find out more about and click view: To book that appointment click Book To go back to the list of available appointments click Back Page 3 of 11
4 Allowing other people to access your account Version 2.0 Users may wish to grant access to other users to enable them to access online services on their behalf e.g. a family member, a carer etc. Please note that this will give the other user access to your account and may enable them to view medications, test results, past appointment details etc. Users are entirely responsible for any access granted to their online account and the practice and or its partners and or its employees will not accept any liability whatsoever in connection with the use of this feature. If you would like to do this, then click Grant Additional Access from the Home screen: Page 4 of 11
5 Complete the details as requested: Change Password The practice advises for you to change your password to a more memorable one when you log on to the website. Passwords must be eight or more characters long and must contain at least one number and at least one non-alphanumeric character, e.g. '!' or '?'. 1. Click Change Password and the following screen will appear: 2. Key in your current password (provided by the practice) 3. Key in your new password and again in the confirm new password box. 7 To Order your prescription Please note that from the point of ordering, your prescription will be ready for collection at the practice in two working days. 1. Select Current Prescriptions and a screen will appear such as: 2. All of your repeat items will be listed as above showing a Tick box at the left hand side. Click to place a tick in the boxes of the items you wish to order. The items ordered will change colour, see example below: 3. Once all items have been selected, enter any relevant notes and click the request medication box as detailed below: Page 7 of 11
8 4. Once your order has been processed, the following screen will appear displaying the items ordered: To print a confirmation of this for your own records, click Print Confirmation. This is useful to have when you collect your prescription so you can make sure that your prescription includes all the items you have ordered. Please note that when collecting prescriptions, the practice closes for training events for a few hours one afternoon every month and that prescriptions are only available for collection during normal practice opening hours. 9 Click the Return to Current Medication box and the Current Prescription screen. 5. If you have missed ordering any item, then repeat the process. 6. If you have ordered an item by mistake, inform the practice via the medication request notes box. Type in the details and then click Request Medication, this will send a note to the practice to inform them of the problem. 7. If you try to order an item again that you have already ordered, you will see a message like this: Page 9 of 11
10 To change your contact details 1. To inform us of any change, or simply to inform us of your address, click on Change contact details and the following screen will appear: If you are happy for us to contact you via SMS (Text Message) on your mobile telephone, then please tick the box Allow SMS notifications. We are planning to utilise SMS messaging more in the future to remind patients of appointments and to remind eligible patients of vaccinations such as the seasonal flu jab for example. 2. Once submitted the following message should appear: To view Past or Future appointments. 1. From the main menu click on the appropriate option and a screen will appear detailing the following: Day Date Start Time End Time Page 10 of 11
