RxMap Multimed Adherence Packaging Systems: Provide Patients with a System to Take the Right Medications at the Right Time Lack of medication adherence is not only dangerous it costs the healthcare system an estimated $290 billion annually. 1 Three out of four Americans report that they do not follow doctors orders when taking prescription drugs. 2 Reasons Cited for Poor Medication Compliance Better clinical outcomes can be achieved through more than just medication. Pharmacy intervention and adherence tools, such as multimed packaging, can have a significant impact 23% Forget to Use/Refill on patient health and safety especially when it comes to multimed regimens. 20% Unwanted Side Effects To address compliance concerns, MTS has developed a multimed blister card and packaging system RxMap. 17% Costs Too Much RxMap (Multimed Adherence Packaging) was developed to increase patient compliance by offering an easy-to-follow system that provides visual reinforcement of what to take and when. This sealed, tamper-evident package makes it easy for RxMap users and caregivers to tell if medication has been taken. Unlike other systems, RxMap reduces the confusion of managing multiple medications, making it easy to know what to take and when. 15% Other 14% Need Questioned 10% Can t Get Rx 1% Don t Know BCG analysis, Harris Interactive 10,000 Patients Survey, CIGNA Pharmacy Management. 3 Who Uses RxMap? Pharmacy patients who need help with multiple medication regimens. A pharmacist at an independent pharmacy spent several weeks working with an elderly patient who had to take several medications throughout the day and was failing to stay compliant, because she was confused about what to take and when. Not surprisingly, this patient was unable to derive maximum health benefits from her medications. When presented with RxMap, the pharmacist was very excited to finally have a system that would help patients who take multiple medications; not to mention, the pharmacist was no longer burdened with finding a solution.
Pharmacies looking to increase market share with a new product offering. Many pharmacies today are looking to grow their business by expanding into new markets, such as group homes, mental health facilities and other special needs clinics, such as HIV/AIDS patients. These facilities serve patients that take several medications throughout the day, so they benefit greatly from the organization and ease of use that RxMap offers. Offering RxMap allows pharmacies to branch into new customer segments, enabling growth and differentiation from other pharmacy providers. Caregivers searching for an easy-to-follow adherence system for their loved ones. Caregivers whether they are professional or caring for a loved-one can use RxMap to improve medication adherence. Pharmacists offering RxMap cards can provide the solution for these caregivers. For example, Mrs. Roberts, the primary caregiver for her father, observed a decline in his mental and physical state over a period of time. On one visit, she noticed that he had been skipping doses of needed medications and taking others at the wrong time. With eight medications to take throughout the day at different times and in different quantities, it is no wonder he was confused. Mrs. Roberts spoke to her pharmacist and asked if there was any way to help her father take the right medications at the right time. The pharmacist was more than willing to help and offered RxMap as a solution. RxMap organizes medications, making it easy for patients to stay adherent Gandy Blvd. North St. Petersburg, FL T F
Multimed Packaging Solutions RxMap Cards Set Your Pharmacy Apart RxMap is a blister card for multiple medications organized by time-of-day and day-of-the-week. This card provides instant visual reinforcement of what to take and when. RxMap (Multimed Adherence Packaging) is organized in a format that is familiar to patients and caregivers. With a tamper-evident seal, users can see at-a-glance whether a medication has been taken.
A Difference You Can See One look is all it takes to see what makes RxMap the obvious choice over competing products. Simple, easy-to-follow design Ample space for medication information Clearly marked time passes Perforated styles available Tamper-evident, easy-puncture foil Perforated Blisters Which is Easier? One or Four? RxMap cards can make even the most complex medication regimens easier. The largest RxMap blister can display up to 14 lines of medication information. Competing solutions, such as pouches, have a smaller capacity, so more packaging may be required for a single time pass. Single Time Pass with RxMap Single Time Pass with Competing Product VERSUS 4 3 Actual Size blister is easier than 4 pouches
RxMap Card Formats RxMap blister cards are available in different formats and sizes for various needs. Card sizes vary, as well as the size of the individual time-of-day blisters. Non-Perforated Cards Available in heat and cold seal versions Available in 7-day/4-time pass, 31-day calendar and 31-day countdown designs Tri-fold flap available for a consolidated Rx label 31-Day Tri-Fold (Cold Seal & Heat Seal) 7 x 4 Tri-Fold (Cold Seal & Heat Seal) 31-Day Bi-Fold Customize Your Card RxMap packaging can be customized with your company s brand design. This specialized touch will give your pharmacy an advantage over the competition and provide additional exposure with your customers and prospects.
Perforated Cards Some RxMap cards are perforated, allowing the patient to detach and take their time-of-day blisters with them. 1 These individual blisters are perfect for those on-the-go patients, because they can be easily removed from the larger card and carried in a pocket or a purse. In addition, some cards are color-coded, so users will know when to take their medication, even if the time-of-day container has been detached from the card. Available in heat seal Available 7-day/4-time pass, 7-day/2-time pass, 28-day & 30-day formats Tri-fold flap for a consolidated Rx label Multiple blister sizes available 7-Day, 4-Time Pass Perforated individual blisters can be labeled with patient s name, date and time to be administered, and name of drug, strength, dosage form and quantity. 7-Day, 4-Time Pass 28-Day, 4-Week 1 Perforated individual blisters can be labeled with patient information and medication instructions if required by regulations and guidelines.
RxMap Card Blister Containers: Which size is best for my pharmacy? Blister containers are available in different sizes depending on your medication requirements and the number of medications that need to be printed on the foil. To determine what size is best for you, consider: 1. The amount of space required to print medication information on the time-of-day container 2. The quantity and size of the medications Blister Container Size No. of Lines with Standard Font Size Small 7 Medium 11 Large 14 Time-of-day container (Contains 14 medications and 17 pills) Actual Size SMALL S MEDIUM M LARGE L Actual Size

How it works. How it helps. Pills are dispensed through a common funnel. Cards are inspected at the seal and label station. Imagine being able to serve more multimed customers without significantly increasing your pharmacy workload. The OnDemand 400 for RxMap was designed with features and functionality that streamline the tasks necessary to safely and accurately fulfill medication orders. The system interfaces with your existing pharmacy The operator at the s information system. This single data input process reduces input time and the possibility of data entry errors. Unlike other systems, the OnDemand 400 for RxMap ing station. beling sta dispenses pills directly into blisters through a small common funnel, which minimizes drop time and ensures that pills drop into the correct spot. station. operator at t Bulk inventory medications are placed into drug-specific cassettes with radio frequency ID tags that allow the beling without interrupting station. production. system to automatically detect when a medication is added to the machine, so the operator can change cassettes Each RxMap card contains a barcode that is used to assign the card to a specific patient order for an accurate audit trail. Once a card is filled, it is easily transferred to the operator s station for manual fills, then to the sealer using a single track. There is no need to remove the card during filling and sealing, preventing pill drift. Cards are sealed, labeled and ready for final check.
Changing the Way Medications are Dispensed Automated Packaging System for Multimed Adherence Blister Cards OnDemand 400 for RxMap is the first automation system designed specifically for patient-specific multimed adherence blister card packaging. This efficient system uses OnDemand technology to dispense multiple medications for a single patient quickly and accurately. Automated Prescription Label Applicator Each multimed adherence card has a unique bar code that is scanned before and after the package is sealed ensuring the label and medications match. All prescription data for a specific multimed adherence card is collated and printed onto one large format label that is automatically applied to the inside cover.
Foil Printer (optional) Interfaced to Your Pharmacy Patient and medication information printed directly onto the foil backing. Downloads label information from your pharmacy information system, collates prescriptions and schedules the automatic fulfillment of multimed adherence cards. Heat-Sealing Press Following visual inspection, the card is sealed in a high-pressure station to provide a secure, tamper-evident package.
OnDemand 400 for RxMap Cassette Technology Oral solid medications are taken from bulk inventory and placed into drugspecific cassettes. Each cassette has a sensor with a unique code. Using RFID (radio frequency I.D.) technology, this unique code is used to notify the user and verify accuracy when a cassette has been added or removed from a feeder base. Customized Cards Multimed adherence cards are available in different sizes and formats and can be customized to brand your pharmacy s service.the cards inside cover provides the space to clearly label each prescription and associated instructions. The individual blister can be labeled with: Patient s name Date and time to be administered Name of drug, strength, dosage form and quantity Perforated Blisters & Disposable Cards Medication blisters are perforated making each one a stand alone container for your on-the-go patients. RxMap cards are fully disposable, with no expensive reusable parts that must be recycled through the pharmacy.
Before automation, we spent about 6-8 hours filling multimed packaging each day. With OnDemand 400 for RxMap, we run the machine for 2 or 3 hours a day and double our volume. Pharmacy Manager 2003 Gandy Blvd. North St. Petersburg, FL T F
