3 Service Overview Capgemini has wide experience in helping large organisations deliver insight and value from their data and globally over 10,000 consultants focused on Information Management. Our capabilities cover Big Data, Analytics, Data Management, Business Intelligence Development and Support (via either projects or in our big data facilities). These capabilities, plus our leadership in providing services securely from the cloud, positions us to be your Big Data Partner and help you take advantage of the insights and efficiencies available. The Big Data Suite can help you make better decisions in near real-time thanks to insight from many types of information, even in your case where we experience an ever increasing volume, variety and velocity of data. With the Big Data Suite you will be able to perform advanced analytics such as data mining, network analytics and predictive / prescriptive modelling on diverse and highly granular sets of data in a cost-effective manner and can effectively support the digital transformation of government services. This is possible as it is a scalable platform that collects data and delivers insight to the business with efficient assisted and self-service channels. The deep insight that can be derived from analytics using the Big Data Suite can specifically help you: Reduce Crime and improve homeland security through better link and match Person, Object, Location and Event (POLE) data across multiple heterogeneous sources; Identify and manage risks, drive earlier compliance and reduce fraud and error - across tax, welfare, justice and social services; Support preventative healthcare through predictive and prescriptive modelling; Provide a fast and efficient service for the majority as they pass through our borders; as well as faster and more effective intervention where necessary; Support integrated and evidence led policy making; Transform services to citizens, business and the third-sector. 4 Capgemini is one of the leaders in the provision of Big Data exploitation and Analytics and has a number of service offerings available on G-Cloud under Lot 4 (as illustrated), such as the Big Data Acquisition, Design, Build and Management Service. These services are designed to help you implement and run the Big Data Suite may consist of: The design, application configuration and build of the Big Data Suite; The ongoing housekeeping, support and maintenance of the Big Data Suite to confirm that it is performant; The design and build of Data Quality components to confirm the integrity of the Big Data Suite; The sourcing, brokerage and design of the Big Data sources such as the configuration of the listening and noise gates; The design and build of the Data Integration and Real Time streaming in order to feed the Big Data Suite; The detailed design and build of the Privacy and Security components of the Big Data Suite. This may consist of any data masking (obfuscation), audit logs, personal privacy and authorisation components; Design, build and management of Big Data Test Scenarios. In order for you to discover insights from your data and build custom/ nearly real time applications for your customers, we need to package the Big Data Suite with a set of disruptive enterprise data products that are able to deal a full range of complex data sets. The products include: Pivotal HD (HADOOP) Backed by the world s largest Hadoop support organisation and tested at scale in the 1,000-node Pivotal Analytics Page 4

5 Workbench, Pivotal's Hadoop products can offer the capabilities of Apache Hadoop in a variety of fully supported, enterprise-ready distributions. Pivotal's industry-leading Hadoop products are designed to work within existing SQL environments, provide support for modern data lakes architecture, and can co-exist alongside in-memory databases for simultaneous batch and real-time analytic queries. PIVOTAL HD Advanced Data Service HAWQ (HADOOP WITH QUERY) HAWQ is a parallel SQL query engine that can combine the key technological advantages of the industry-leading Pivotal Analytic Database with the scalability and convenience of Hadoop. HAWQ reads and writes data natively on HDFS. HAWQ delivers industry-leading performance and linear scalability. It can provide users the tools to confidently and successfully interact with petabyte range data sets. HAWQ can provide users with a complete, standards compliant SQL interface. Pivotal Greenplum Database (MPP & ANALYTIC DATABASES) Pivotal utilises shared-nothing MPP architecture, flexible column and row-oriented storage, and fully parallel communications with external databases and Hadoop through its advanced gnet software interconnect technology. This enables Pivotal Greenplum Database customers to achieve 10x, 100x, or even 1000x better performance over traditional RDBMS products. Organisations can develop deep analytics with their preferred toolsets more rapidly; in languages they know such as SQL, Python, Ruby, Java. Pivotal Gemfire (IN-MEMORY & REAL-TIME) Pivotal GemFire can provide familiar Java, C++, C interfaces for supporting in memory event driven architectures that leverage data of arbitrary complexity and shape via a key value store. Pivotal GemFireXD is a real-time distributed data store that solves the hard problems of distributed systems for you. Built on over 10 years of R&D, and the experience of enterpriseclass customers, these solutions can accommodate ever-growing datasets and users with linear scalability and continuous uptime when used with appropriate infrastructure. Alignment to the Capgemini Big Data Reference Architecture To allow comparison to other Vendor Big Data Stacks, Pivotal and Capgemini has produced the following graphic, which illustrates how the full Pivotal proposition aligns to a standard Big Data Reference Architecture. Business Need There is growing realisation that analytics can directly help the UK government save money and create business value, particularly in light of the success we have been experiencing working with the largest organisations focused in the provision of Big Data exploitation and Analytics worldwide. Better decision-making, efficiency, service and customer experience are benefits commonly achieved from insight delivered through better analytics. In addition, we believe it can help the UK Government improve on areas of ongoing necessity such as improved risk identification, root cause and trend analysis, and raising compliance levels. Modern data architecture capable of working with capabilities, that can handle a full range of complex data sets in a secure manner, can deliver these benefits. Data sets can be either structured or unstructured (such as social media, operational and realtime data), and insights can be delivered fast, through a variety of different formats. Page 6

7 The Big Data Suite helps you build applications that serve your customers in the context of who they are and what they are doing in the moment in a secure manner. It helps you to build, deploy and scale big data solutions rapidly and cost-effectively using a set of enterprise data products to store, manage, and deliver value from massive data sets. It helps you explore and harness insight from the data you already have. For a practical example of how analytics can help you, imagine being able to influence better citizen behaviour, thanks to automatic next best actions messages and nudge services to your agents so that actions are taken at the right place and time. How much positive impact would that deliver? Our Approach Capgemini can provide services (offered separately under Lot 4) in order to support clients in the implementation and exploitation of the Big Data Suite. These are covered in our G-Cloud Lot 4 - Big Data Acquisition, Design, Build and Management Services and may consist of: Acquisition Collecting data from diverse sources in batch and real time; Marshalling Sorting, storing, streaming data to be available for analysis; Analysis Finding insight from the data; Action Building the output of the analysis back into new optimised business processes. Service Management Subscription Pricing for the Big Data Suite Capgemini and Pivotal can provide a flexible subscription model where licensing is charged on a per CPU Core basis, however the licenses can be interchanged with any of the Pivotal products at any time. This can allow businesses to adapt to changes in market and project requirements. Page 7

8 The Big Data Suite would be charged on a subscription basis. The minimum subscription is 225,000 which covers 250 CPU Cores for a 1-year term; or 125 CPU Cores for a 2-year term. The charge for additional CPU Cores is 370 per core per annum. 1 x CPU Core is defined by an individual execution core within a physical multi-core processor or a CPU core assigned to a virtual machine process (vcpu), or one Amazon Elastic Compute Unit. Hosting, disaster recovery and networking are not included within the scope of this service. Data back-up procedures may vary from client to client. It is the responsibility of the client organisation to ensure that data is backed up on a regular basis. Support desk: Global technical support by telephone or web-interface; 24 x 7 (365 days); Experienced support technical consultants; Remote connectivity; Rights to new releases of support; 24 x 7 Access to online support tools. Service Level Agreements (SLA) Definitions The following service levels describe the service response from the point in time that an issue is (i) identified as being Capgemini s responsibility; and (ii) is within the scope of the platform services described here. Severity (Level) Level 1 Definition Critical: severe problem preventing customer from performing critical business functions Initial Response (Time) 30 Minutes * Level 2 High: Customer able to performance job function, but performance of job function degraded or severely limited 2 Hours * Level 3 Level 4 Medium: Customer performance of job function is largely unaffected Request: Minimal system impact; includes features and other non-critical questions. 3 Business Hours 8 Business Hours * Support provided on a 24x7 basis until resolved. Capgemini can also provide offshore resources at reduced rates where appropriate. Projects can be priced either on a Time & Materials or Fixed Price basis, subject to negotiation.
