We want our students to; make positive life choices, undertake training, become skilled and contribute to their own community We want to; empower students with the skills and abilities to manage their lives as responsible community members and citizens Therefore we will work together in partnership to build a strong community and educate our children Students must attend school regularly to learn : Read, write and speak English Understand the use of money and practical maths Know how to get resources and look after them Speak up in meetings and talk with confidence Know how communities and governments make decisions Know the history of Anangu and their relationships with all Australians Understand and use current technologies Kenmore Park School Annual Plan
2 KENMORE PARK ANANGU SCHOOL PLAN Strategic Attendance Principals Values and Beliefs To improve attendance of all children we will work with the AEW s Family and Community members Provide 2 warning bells to get ready for school) 8.45 One bell sound to tell school is starting 9.00 ring home Followed up by home visit Monitor student s absences. Address unexplained absences with Parents/ Care provider. 100% students attending school by the end of Term All enrolled students attending school. Student s attendance collated accurately. Home visits and ringing homes to addres student s absences successful. On going Learning & reflective practice Nurture the whole child With family /community support Negotiated learning in the classroom All students having fun at school while learning with community elders Provide opportunities for the students that embrace their knowledge and skill base and develop relevant life skills for the future using Blooms Taxonomy and other strategies Engage community and make a list of skills in the community, family invited to come to school to share knowledge on a regular basis Students take responsibility for learning and share ideas when working together in a variety of ways making positive choices to learn Shared lunch twice a term with activities to follow with families working with children on a project or activity Students share their knowledge in a variety of ways by presenting more regularly from a number of strategies, eg Blooms taxonomy. 3 Direction English Listening and Speaking Reading and Viewing Writing To develop a 2 year annual A/L text cycle. Develop a literacy plan in partnership with AEW s/community observing community /cultural events and important themes celebrated throughout the year Develop curriculum activities that explore diverse thinking strategies and support a variety of learning styles Strategically plan 2 yr cycle with A/L Co0ordinator with emphases on early years framework and the Middle years Essential learning outcomes Record important events for the school year and the community and integrate literacy /curriculum outcomes for Reconciliation Week Naidoc Week Harmony day International Peace Day Children s Week Environment Week Implement throughout literacy cycle critical thinking,creative thinking, graphic organisers, with further emphases on complex thinking, Blooms Taxonomy and Gardiners Multiple intelligence to support All students learning All staff involved in planning literacy cycle and specific activities using frameworks and ESL scope and Scales Community engaged with school in developing events of interest. Professional development of all staff members. Strategic planning at the beginning of the year with key areas of learning recorded for JP and MP outcomes Effective use of evidence and data in teachers program. Integrated learning activities planned across the school 100% staff attending to T&D All children to have an Individual Learning Plan outlining strengths and additional support areas. Addressing the learning areas for students and key competencies To meet the needs of our EYL children in our care. To meet the needs of individual children through ILP. Peer support learning within the classes Staff sharing new knowledge staff demonstrating new knowledge ILP for each child was successfully planned and implemented. 5 Science Develop a science program designed to inspire and educate the use of Inquiry skills integrated throughout the curriculum Support the training of staff and choose particular themes used over a 2 year cycle Use effective questioning and predicting,relating to investigation techniques in the methods used for JP and MP students Invite specialist to work with students and teachers in science methodology to work on Posing questions and Make general predictions based upon their experience Attend T&D each year Science specialists have worked with students at the school T& D has been attended and knowledge shared with staff and students Students using science knowledge to propose solutions to problems and working with Inquiry approach Kenmore Park School Annual Plan

7 Student wellbeing Developing the whole child including Health and Hygiene practices Learning life skills for improved health outcomes To educate and support healthy outcomes for students by providing a nutritional breakfast and lunch when required including fruit from orchard Incorporating practices such as washing hands before and after meals and toilet breaks Cleaning of teeth after Kapati Shower and clean clothes All children eating a healthy diet and staff and students eating together modelling good practice Sitting down to digest food Picking fruit and vegetables from orchard daily/weekly Developing language and posters in the school to show and remind good hygiene practices Developing good habits for life Children eating and making healthy choices at school daily/weekly Children engaged in picking fruit for kapati Posters made by children around school to remind them about healthy eating Healthy outcomes improved with less scabies and lice apparent in students Keeping them Safe Anangu staff trained in keeping Safe programs. Anangu staff working with Sandra Ken in programming Keeping safe lessons. Anangu to deliver Keep them safe lesson each term Lessons completed in keeping safe by Anangu. Student s knowledge and awareness demonstrated through assessments. Asthma Plan Develop an Asthma action plan for Asthmatic children with the support of AEW s and all children informed about asthma plan. Child s pictures in staff room with asthma plan attached. Asthma medication labelled and in front office and in a duty bag. Child s picture with asthma plan in classrooms and front office. Asthma medication labelled in front office if needed. 8 Training and Development To develop and promote the full potential of all staff members. Staff to be released for ongoing training, focusing on their own professional and personal development to support the needs of the students and school. All Anangu staff to attend meetings such as staff meetings PYEC meeting and Governing Council meeting. All Anangu staff to be trained in Keeping Safe. Anangu Staff to engage in ICT training Staff decide with Principal the school focus and T&D required To achieve outcomes. Staff to negotiate with principal any T&D that will support the educational learning outcomes for students and their own professional and personal development. Staff attending and sharing relevant information from training and development. Staff using new skills to empower themselves and others. 100 % of staff actively involved in school activities. On going Assessment and Evaluation And Performance Plan/reviews All staff meet with Principal each term to share their program /plans and discuss T&D needs Staff engage in personal and professional behaviour and share short term and long term outcomes reflecting on their teaching practice,opportunities to improve and challenges they may have Staff setting personal and professional goals each term with Principal guidance and support Be good communicators with school community and respectful of cultural domain Staff empowered and supported by Principal to be successful and encouraged to be reflective of their daily practice with students and community members Kenmore Park School Annual Plan
9 Anangu Language and Culture Belonging and Becoming Respectful relationships Value and use expertise of Anangu in Community by exploring the Past, present and engaging in the Reconciliation process Consult with AEW;s to work on a school plan with community in partnership to create a sense of belonging and inclusion at school School and community members working together in developing strong cultural connections through cultural practices, land management and celebrations. Meet with students, AEW s and plan a community event each term and delegate responsibilities, choosing a focus relating to special days set aside on the school calendar Invite community to discuss cultural practices. Speaking, Reading and Writing in Pitjantjatjara. use the Cultural centre for Anangu domain lessons. Anangu delivering Cultural lessons. Community event decided and special days observed in language with activities developed to encompass the whole curriculum Anangu coming along and feeling welcome at the centre and sharing activities with students All student engaged in Cultural lessons.
