1 Writing a Business Case Outline Appendix 3 If you wish to receive assistance under the Business Support Scheme or are thinking about exploiting a new idea, starting a new company or purchasing new equipment for the company, you will need to produce a business outline which sets out the rationale and key factors for your business or company as a whole. The purpose of this form is to provide you with a pro-forma business case outline that will serve several needs. One of the most important is that it should provide a format that will help you to think through the positive and negative aspects of your business idea or proposal. Important: Completing the form. You can change the format and details of the headings you use to be more appropriate to the case you are making. You have the choice of printing the form out and completing it by hand, using a separate sheet(s) if the space available is insufficient or you can complete it on screen. If you complete it on screen use your mouse to click on the field you wish to complete. When you have completed that field, click on the next, and so on. You can increase the space available by putting the cursor at the end of the text you are entering and hitting the enter key and in a similar way can decrease excess space by using the delete key at the end of the text you are entering. We have also provided two spreadsheets available for download from our website ( that will help you to complete the financial aspects of this business case outline. Together these documents will provide you with a valuable snap-shot analysis of your business at this time and will help our Business Development Consultant determine the suitability of your business to receive assistance from the Business Support Scheme. Name of Business: Contact: Address: Position: Postcode: Telephone Number: Fax Number: 1
