But a zero waste achievement would require a national consensus involving manufacturers, the federal government, the nonprofit sector, states, municipalities and consumers. 7 The Analysis & Implementation Process Only implement solutions that are "durable or lasting savings opportunities Do not implement anything other than what would be defined as durable or lasting savings opportunities. Conduct a savings based analysis which includes right sizing of equipment & service levels, contract review, equipment verification, identify what s in your waste stream and whether anything can be recycled, sold, or reused by another firm, and last is bidding out pricing. EWS has a database of over 12,000 waste and recycling vendors at over 19,000 client locations giving us leverage when negotiating pricing. Find out who all the potential recyclers and reuse vendors are in your local market and all available buyers or non-profit donation sites (Sustainable Surplus Exchange here in San Diego) to take items in your waste stream as a 501C donation and repurpose back into the community. Achieving Zero Waste The Process 4. 9 The EWS Waste Management Solution Call us if you spend more than 10K per month on waste disposal and recycling and want to look like a savings and waste diversion superstar. EWS has a 10% savings guarantee if we don t find at least 10% savings you don t have to use our service. That s a risk free offer. To get started, we just need a signature on our service agreement, copies of your waste hauler invoices and contracts, our LOA printed on your letterhead so we can represent you to your waste haulers, and a list of locations, store #s, and a contact at each location. Based on the specific service needs of each company, EWS will customize a waste disposal and recycling management program following a comprehensive 30 step proprietary analysis across all of your locations. We will present our savings recommendations to you then implement the savings with your waste & recycling haulers on your behalf. EWS will receive 50% of the implemented savings as realized monthly for a service period of 60 months. Consolidated bill payment services are optional at $10 per location/month for EWS to pay all waste disposal and recycling vendors company wide. If this bill payment service option is chosen, Berry Plastics will only need to cut one single check or EFT each month for waste disposal & recycling services. 9

Schedule a short kick-off meeting conference call to discuss data collection, next steps, and to set expectations. You will send a memo to all office locations as follows: Explaining how you will assist with management of all waste & recycling vendors. Making them aware that someone may call them to schedule site visits. Collect data from your assigned staff member at corporate within 14 days. Location listing to include- facility id #, address, contact name, phone, & . A copy of invoices from each vendor at every location (2 pages for Waste Management) A copy of any hauler contracts readily available (You can request from haulers as well) Plan to host a savings recommendations meeting: days following receipt of initial data Plan to implement your savings/waste diversion plan: 30 days following recommendations Your company will realize the savings on the next invoice, and produce your first savings report days following receipt of initial data 10
