2 Catholic Charities Legal Network (CCLN) will host the 11 th Annual Catholic Charities Legal Network Golf Tournament on Monday, October 6, 2014, at Belle Haven Country Club in Alexandria, VA. Many of the area s leading law firms have participated in past tournaments, as it has been among the legal profession s most popular events. Since 1989, the mission of Catholic Charities Legal Network has been to provide pro bono legal services to lowincome individuals and families in Washington, DC, and Maryland regardless of race, gender, religion, ethnicity or other status recognized under law. CCLN is supported by a dedicated network of volunteer lawyers and their law firms and a broad spectrum of law firm, corporate and individual donor support. The 11 th Annual Catholic Charities Legal Network Golf Tournament brings these groups together for a day filled with golf, food, fun, and networking. It is CCLN s primary fundraising event, providing general operating support for the program to ensure that high quality, personalized legal services are available to those in need throughout the year. As a program of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington, CCLN has assisted over 82,000 individuals since its inception. CCLN provides clients with civil legal information, referrals, and representation on landlord/tenant, government entitlements, family law, consumer/bankruptcy, wills/probate and employment matters. In addition, CCLN offers educational legal seminars to the general public and pro bono attorneys. Over its 25 year history, CCLN has been the recipient of multiple awards for providing outstanding legal services to the community, including the Council for Court Excellence s Justice Potter Stewart Award and the Partnering for Justice Award from the D.C. Consortium of Legal Service Providers. CCLN has also been featured in the Washington Post and on ABC s Good Morning America. Most recently, CCLN Director James Bishop was awarded the Jerrold Scoutt Prize for his outstanding work as a legal services lawyer by the District of Columbia Bar Foundation. This award is one of the highest honors available to public interest lawyers in the District of Columbia.
