The Program Director of Instructional Technology shall hold at least a master degree and a valid administrator s certificate from an accredited college or university, or have a master degree and 15 hours of coursework in curriculum, supervision, research, tests and measurements, statistics, special populations, school finance, leadership, the principalship, or school law. The Program Director of Instructional Technology shall have had at least three (3) years of successful experience in teaching experience, maintaining a satisfactory score on the district appraisal instrument. The job description is attached. To be considered for this position, you must submit the following materials to the Office of the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources by the end of the day on Friday, August 1, 2014: (1) letter of interest, (2) official transcript(s) showing the designated coursework, (3) current resume, and (4) a copy of your administrative certificate, if applicable. 2 PROGRAM DIRECTOR OF INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNOLOGY A. QUALIFICATIONS: 1. The Program Director of Instructional Technology shall have the general qualifications of a teacher as prescribed by the State Department of Education. 2. The Program Director of Instructional Technology shall hold a master degree and a valid principal s certificate from an accredited college or university, or a master degree with fifteen (15) hours of course-work in instructional technology, curriculum, supervision, research, test and measurement, statistics, special populations, leadership/the Principalship, school law and school finance. 3. The Program Director of Instructional Technology shall have had at least three (3) years of successful teaching experience, maintaining a satisfactory score on the district appraisal instrument. B. APPOINTMENT: The Board of Trustees shall appoint the Program Director of Instructional Technology upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools for a term of not more than two (2) years, and the contract will be considered for extension at the regular March meeting each year. C. REPORTS TO: The Program Director of Instructional Technology shall be responsible to the Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction for the performance of all duties. D. JOB PERFORMANCE STATEMENTS: 1. Instructional Support a. Works with appropriate staff to develop, maintain, and revise curriculum documents integrating the Technology Applications TEKS into classroom instruction and provides technology resources for lessons, activities, and assessments. b. Assists in the development of short-and long-range plans for the integration of technology into the instructional program. c. Advises as instructional materials decisions are made to implement the Technology Applications TEKS for grades K - 12.

3 d. Trains Instructional Technology Specialists to work with campus instructional staff on ways to integrate technology into instruction. i. Provides training to demonstrate integration strategies utilizing available technology resources for lessons, activities, and assessments. ii. Works with Instructional Technology Specialists to establish processes and training for managing technology devices and software in the classroom. iii. Provides training on effective uses of instructional technology that focuses on student academic needs in all content areas. iv. Promotes technology integration opportunities for district and campus administrators, Instructional Technology Specialists, faculty and staff on all campuses. v. Investigates and disseminates information on best practices for technology integration into instruction. vi. Plans, implements, and evaluates staff development activities provided by the campus Instructional Technology Specialists to improve awareness, knowledge, and skills of the district s staff in the integration of technology in instruction and assessment. e. Models appropriate technology integration i. Models integration strategies utilizing available technology resources for lessons, activities, and assessments in the instructional setting. ii. Models instructional technology integration in content areas. iii. Researches new technologies for instruction continually and provides training to Instructional Technology Specialists, campus administrators, and teachers on best practices for technology integration into instruction. f. Supports campuses working on integration of educational technology. i. Provides training on and supports integration strategies utilizing available technology resources for lessons, activities, and assessments. ii. Develops and leads a district-wide instructional technology integration and best-practices team to promote quality integration and adoption of technology practices.

4 iii. Provides opportunities for Instructional Technology Specialists to work collaboratively to implement and promote best practices. iv. Observes use of educational technology on campuses and provides feedback. v. Designs and implements professional development activities integrating technology into classroom instruction for teachers, Instructional Technology Specialists, campus administrators, and program directors. g. Guides Instructional Technology Specialists to support campus staff working to utilize technology effectively in the educational environment. i. Provides training to assist campus administrators and Instructional Technology Specialists in implementation of district and campus applications. ii. Provides training in technology competencies. h. Promotes district and campus technology. i. Leads the district technology committee. ii. Communicates with campus and district personnel, parents, and community members to promote and share information about the district technology program. iii. Communicates district policy and guidelines related to instructional technology to campuses and district administrators. i. Leads district technology initiatives. i. Supports, monitors, and assesses campus technology plans. ii. Provides guidance in the selection of hardware and software purchases aligned to the district technology standards. iii. Provides opportunities for Instructional Technology Specialists to collaborate and share instructional technology integration ideas and strategies.

5 2. School Climate a. Fosters collegiality and team-building among appropriate personnel, encouraging active involvement in decision making related to instructional technology. b. Communicates effectively with campus level staff, the community and parents and/or students when appropriate. c. Recognizes efforts and achievements of the administrative staff, teachers, and students. d. Works harmoniously with all administrative and teaching personnel. e. Demonstrates high expectations of students and staff. 3. Campus Improvement a. Works collaboratively with others in developing Aldine s district mission, district goals, and articulating a vision for the district s instructional program. b. Monitors the integration of technology into the instructional program at all levels. c. Provides opportunities for staff development relating to integrating technology into classroom instruction for the administrative staff and teachers. d. Researches changes in instructional technology and provides analysis of such to determine possible implementation in the district. 4. Personnel Management a. Assists in the orientation and support of Instructional Technology Specialists during back to school staff development and throughout the year. b. Communicates regularly with Instructional Technology Specialists, campus administrators, teachers, and curriculum program directors to determine instructional technology needs.

6 5. Administrative and Fiscal/Facilities Management a. Defines the instructional technology fiscal needs in the budget development process to ensure that fiscal resources address the mission of Aldine ISD. b. Demonstrates responsible fiscal spending over Instructional Technology budgets. c. Works to keep Aldine ISD schools in compliance with state law and Texas Education Agency standards. d. Analyzes facility and equipment needs for optimum teaching and learning; utilizes information to make recommended changes or adjustments. e. Provides supports to the Instructional Technology Specialists on how to diagnose and accurately describe common hardware, software, and network issues. 6. Student Management a. Supports district and campus rules for conduct. b. Encourages plans for improved student behavior that reflects enhanced opportunities for learning. 7. School/Community Relations a. Works with campus administrators, technology specialists, teachers, and curriculum program directors to encourage and promote parental and community involvement in instructional technology activities. b. Encourages two-way communication between the district and the community. c. Encourages and promotes parental and community involvement in the educational process. d. Demonstrates awareness of school/community needs and initiates activities to meet those identified needs. e. Projects a positive image to the community.

7 8. Professional Growth and Development a. Utilizes information provided through formal and informal assessment data and a professional growth plan to improve professional skills and knowledge. b. Participates in appropriate conferences and staff development sessions for improved job performance. c. Actively seeks and utilizes evaluative feedback from appropriate administrative staff, subordinates and immediate supervisor regarding job performance. d. Participates in professional organizations and disseminates ideas and information to appropriate staff. e. Provides leadership in identifying trends and opportunities in the profession, as well as solving problems facing the profession. f. Strives to improve leadership skills through self-initiated professional activities. g. Maintains active involvement in local, state and national professional organizations. h. Conducts oneself in a professional, ethical, and responsible manner. 9. Other Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Superintendent of Schools. E. EVALUATION: 1. The job performance statements shall constitute the criteria for an evaluation form with an evaluation code as follows: NA Measure Not Being Taken. 1 No Measurable Progress. 2 Progressed Toward The Goal. 3 Met The Goal. 4 Exceeded The Goal.

8 5 Significantly Exceeded The Goal. 2. The evaluation form shall contain a place for comments and general observations made by the evaluating person. These comments shall constitute additional criteria for evaluation. 3. The Program Director of Instructional Technology s evaluation is a responsibility resting with the Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction. An evaluation shall be completed in writing at least once during the course of the school year. 4. The Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction shall submit to the Superintendent of Schools or the staff person designated by the Superintendent of Schools, the completed evaluation of the Program Director of Instructional Technology at the time stipulated by the Superintendent of Schools. 5. Administrators will be appraised according to the following calendar: Action Plan and Goal Setting Conference July - August Data Collection and Analysis September - May Contract Recommendation January Summative Conference May/June F. SALARY: The salary of the Program Director of Instructional Technology shall be based on the salary adopted by the Board of Trustees for this position.
