1 Micrsft and the State f Vermnt Enrllment fr Educatin Slutins Agreement Overview: As Backgrund: Micrsft and the State f Vermnt have put in a place a new 3 year subscriptin licensing agreement based n the Micrsft Enrllment fr Educatin Slutins Agreement. The agreement is pen t all publicly funded schls in the State f Vermnt, as well as Private K-12. Sftware Huse Internatinal (SHI) is the Micrsft Educatin Reseller fr the agreement and set the pricing. The key change t Micrsft K-12 licensing is the pricing discunt is based n the teacher and staff full time equivalent (FTE) cunts nt PC cunts. Yet, participating SD s/su s have the right t deply n all their machines. At many schls the rati f teachers and staff t PC/Macs is 1:3 r 1:4, hence it prvides the schls the pprtunity t save mney n Micrsft licenses. Schl Districts/Supervisry Unins will need t chse between 2 prduct packages t participate and license all emplyee FTEs (students ptinal) thereby prviding licensing cverage fr all systems at the schls (including labs). Prducts selected with include all assciated Sftware Assurance benefits such as upgrade/dwngrade, rights, e-learning, Hme use rights, etc..all participating schl FTE cunts will be aggregated t prvide discunted pricing frm Micrsft. Fllwing are a set f frequently asked questins cncerning, prducts, pricing, cunting FTEs, hw t participate, etc. 1. What is this new licensing agreement with Micrsft being made available fr all publicly funded schls in Vermnt? Micrsft is putting in place a statewide agreement with the State f Vermnt allwing all the publically funded schls t aggregate their staff and teacher FTE cunts t btain discunted pricing frm Micrsft n the Enrllment fr Educatin Slutins (EES) reflective f the cmbined pwer f the participating Districts. The agreement will be 3 years in length with annual true up payments. Districts that pt int this prgram are cmmitting t remaining with it thrugh the full 3 years. Micrsft is granting discunts nrmally reserved fr districts with thusands f FTE and is lcking in tday s pricing fr the selected prducts thrugh full term f the 3 year prgram. 2. What Micrsft prducts are cvered? There are 2 prduct packages and after selecting ne f these ptins, schls can then add additinal prducts as they wish. ALL District FTE must be cunted and cvered.

What is the pricing? SHI is the reseller n this agreement and prvides the final price t the schl. SHI prices are as fllws: Optin 1: Desktp Cre Package (Office, Windws OS upgrade and Cre Client Access Licenses) = $45.00 per FTE per year Optin 2: Desktp Enterprise Package (Office, OS upgrade and Enterprise CAL Suite = $53.00 per FTE per year Other prducts (Servers, MDOP, SQL, Prject, Visi, IT Academy, etc) can be included in this agreement at an additinal cst which SHI can qute. Student cverage is ptinal please see the student sectin starting at questin 15 fr student infrmatin. This agreement has a 3 year term s the price is lcked and the schl pays nce a year at the anniversary date. 4. What are the benefits f this new licensing prgram t my schl District? 3 SharePint Online with 10GB per tenant(aka; dmain) plus 500MB per user fr persnal, departmental and teacher sites and shared cllabratin sites Office Web Apps fr brwser-based web-versin f Micrsft Office (Wrd, Outlk, PwerPint, Excel, OneNte) Lync Online fr IM, presence, running webinars (distance learning, schl bard meetings, parent-teacher discussins, etc..) 5. Hw d I cunt teacher and staff full time equivalents fr this licensing agreement? The SD/SU wuld cunt all their full time teachers and staff and remve the nn-knwledge users (ie bus drivers, cafeteria wrkers, janitrs, etc) frm this cunt if these users d nt use a cmputer fr their jb nr have accunts n the netwrk. Micrsft allws part time teachers t be cunted as 1/3 f an FTE and part time staff as ½ f an FTE. All eligible emplyees in a Schl District r Supervisry Unin must be included. Student cverage in this agreement is ptinal, if interested please see the student sectin starting at questin 17 fr student infrmatin. 6. Can yu give a general FTE t PC rati where the agreement might be beneficial frm a purely cst perspective? Fr schls that currently use OPEN Select thse prgrams are based n the PC cunt. Mst schls have many mre PCs than FTEs and many have a rati f 3 t 1 r mre (PC t FTE). S t justify the new EES agreement it will nt take much mre than a 1.2 t 1 rati (PC t FTE) fr schls currently using OPEN r Select. Additinally with EES schls culd prcure new PCs with the Hme editin f Windws which is abut $15-$50 savings. Then, use their EES benefits t upgrade t Windws 7 r 8 Enterprise editins fr better netwrk and security management. 7. The student ptin is needed if the schl wants t cver the students persnally wned systems and/r the District prcures systems fr a student s exclusive use. 17. Des the schl have t chse the same prducts fr the student ptin as they did fr the schl systems? N, the schl can chse different prducts fr the student systems than they chse fr the schl systems. 18. What are the rules fr the student ptin in terms f cunting the student FTEs? The SD/SU cunts all students which it wishes t have Micrsft sftware cverage fr the student s persnally wned machines and/r the machines the SD/SU prcures fr the students exclusive use. 19. What happens t the sftware n the student systems when the student graduates? When the student graduates they receive perpetual license rights fr the Micrsft sftware cvered by the student ptin. If the student leaves the schl (ie desn t graduate) they must remve the sftware frm their system. 20. If the schl ges with the student ptin d we add these FTEs t ur ttal teacher and staff FTE cunt?

7 N, we keep the student FTE cunt and the teacher/staff FTE cunt separate. Student pricing is als less than the teacher/staff pricing. 21. Hw des the student get the sftware t install n his/her system? The SD/SU can install the sftware fr the student. Or, the SD/SU can purchase discunted student media (CD/DVD) frm their Micrsft educatin reseller. This is prtected media and will allw fr 2 installatins (ie ne as a backup). Or, the schl can sign up with a Micrsft partner such as e-academy which will set up electrnic dwnlads fr the student systems. The dwnlad ptin is free.
