1 Pocket CowCard and Handheld Devices 7/20/12 Pocket CowCard (PCC) is the version of DairyCOMP305 that runs on handheld devices (PDAs). VAS has evaluated a number of these handheld devices for compatibility with PCC as well as suitability for our clients environmental operating conditions. As with any technology, VAS will be evaluating new hardware as it becomes available. This factsheet represents VAS s current offerings and suggested units (Dec, 2010). The devices are divided into three main categories: Category 1: Current VAS Role: Hardware plus PCC Software Sales and Support VAS currently sells two hardware solutions in addition to Pocket CowCard software sales and support. 2 Category 2: Current VAS Role: PCC Software Sales and Support These units are being used by clients for PCC. VAS does not currently sell these units, but does offer PCC software sales and support for them. Socket SoMo 650 Standard Category 3: Current VAS Role: Other Units Known to Support PCC These handhelds have either been used in the past with PCC or have undergone testing. Most of these units are no longer in production. These units are out of production, but are viable alternatives for use with PCC: Dell Axim X51 HP Ipaq 211 HP Ipaq 111 HP IPAQ hx2490b Psion G2 Workabout Pro These units have been used, but VAS does not recommend the purchase or use of these units as they have some limitations.
