2 Background and Details The goal of Full Court Press is to increase the Texas court system s knowledge and response to interpersonal violence crimes (domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking) through training professionals working in these fields. Twelve interdisciplinary community teams of two members will be selected to attend the training. An interdisciplinary team approach achieves many purposes including valuing a collaborative team effort, building community capacity to address these complex crimes, and providing for a broader reach and involvement across professional disciplines. Full Court Press will be held May 19-21, 2014, in Austin, Texas. (Hotel and other training details will be provided to selected attendees). The three-day curriculum will focus on how to utilize an expert witness and or how to be an expert witness in domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking cases. Full Court Press conference expenses are being funded by a grant from the Office of the Governor. There is no registration fee. In addition, financial assistance will be provided to assist teams with travel and lodging. Lunch will be provided on conference days by the University of Texas School of Law. Expenses that are not covered by the financial assistance must be covered by the team members or their organizations. Additional financial information will be provided to the teams selected. Applicants will be notified of selection decisions by February 21, We anticipate applying for continuing education credits for social workers, law enforcement officers, and attorneys. THE APPLICATION HAS THREE PARTS: 1. Information about the members of your interdisciplinary community team, a point-of-contact and target area; 2. Your team s written commitment to adhere to the training s goals, if selected; and 3. A short essay describing your team s interest in the training and capacity to implement action plans developed as part of the training.
