The serviced apartment industry has witnessed many encouraging trends over the last 10 years the most crucial being the shift in consumer demand away from traditional accommodation in hotels and motels. According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics: Since 2002, the number of serviced apartment rooms on offer in Australia has grown from 30,000 to more than 100,000 (333%). Compared to non-serviced apartment rooms on offer (from 120,000 to 150,000), which is around 25% for the same period In terms of annual room nights sold, serviced apartments have grown by 63% compared to non-serviced apartment room nights of 15% over the same period The outlook in 2013 and beyond is even more encouraging with revenue growth expected to reach 6% reflecting the low level of supply across the entire industry Why are more travellers choosing apartments over hotels?
