1 JEAN PIGOZZI (1952) The Italian businessman Jean Pigozzi grew up in France and then studied at Harvard, graduating in Today, he divides his time between his home in Switzerland, and various other places, in particular the Panama jungle. Pigozzi started taking photographs when he was seven years old. His first exhibition was held at the Musée d Art Moderne in Paris in 1974, followed by two personal exhibitions at the Light Gallery (New York) in 1980 and the Gagosian Gallery (New York) in In 2008, the Helmut Newton Foundation (Berlin) held the collective exhibition Pigozzi and the Paparazzi. In 1989, along with Exhibition commissioner André Magnin, he began what would become the world s most important contemporary African art collection (CAAC), which is regularly exhibited in leading museums, such as The Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, the Grimaldi Centre in Monaco, the Guggenheim Bilbao, the Pinacoteca Agnelli in Turin, London s Tate Modern and the Centre Pompidou in Paris. As early as 1996, Jean Pigozzi had bought land in Panama and created the Liquid Jungle Lab which is dedicated to protecting the environment. In 2008, he launched a luxury clothes range, Limoland, aimed at ROM (Rich Old Men). For three years, Jean Pigozzi has also collected a large number of young Japanese artists. This year, he has exhibited these artists at the Centre d Art National Le Magasin, in Grenoble, as well as the Garage Centre in Moscou. His earlier works include: Pigozzi s Journal of the Seventies (1980) published by Doubleday and A Short Visit to Planet Earth (1990) published by Aperture.
