7 Federal Work Study Award based on Financial Need Amount of award is not deducted from bill Notification will be sent in early August to students packaged with a work study allocation Job Fair August 29, 2012 Jobs will also be listed on the website in early September.

8 Federal Perkins Loan Awarded based on financial need and availability of funds Fixed Interest Rate of 5% for the life of the loan The student will be notified via their Marist at the beginning of August regarding the completion of the electronic Perkins Promissory Note

9 Federal Direct Stafford Loan Students borrow directly from the Federal Government Students will need their FAFSA PIN number to sign on and complete both the Entrance Counseling and Master Promissory Note Loan terms for : Subsidized/Unsubsidized - fixed rate of 6.8% Origination fee - 1%

10 Federal Direct Stafford Loan- Master Promissory Note One application is good for up to 10 years To decline or reduce the loan amount, please have the student contact our office via using their Marist Federal Direct Stafford Loan Entrance Counseling and Master Promissory Note (MPN) are required and must be completed online at:

12 Outside Scholarship Funding Please send copies of outside scholarships, grants, and tuition reimbursement to the Office of The scholarship amounts are reflected as a part of the financial aid package, and will be applied against financial need, if applicable Scholarship funds will be split equally between the fall and spring semesters, unless otherwise indicated If funds are not expected until after the bill due date, a copy of the letter will allow you to deduct the scholarship from your bill

13 Verification Process Requirements Marist College Financial Aid Application (MAPP) The Department of Education has enhanced the FAFSA filing process to allow tax data to be retrieved directly from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The IRS Data Retrieval Tool will allow the filed 2011 federal tax return data to be uploaded directly to the FAFSA. If you haven t already done so, we strongly encourage you to use this tool as it is the fastest, most secure way to provide verified tax information. If you will not use or are not able to use the IRS Data Retrieval, as per new Federal Regulations, the Office of will require copies of Federal Tax Return Transcripts. Please do not send copies of your filed federal tax return. **If necessary, additional information may be requested** If either a parent or student does not file a tax return, please complete the appropriate Non-Tax Filing Section on the MAPP or submit the Non-Tax Filing form An will be sent to the student directing them to check mymarist and review any changes made to their financial aid package during Verification

17 Federal Direct Parent PLUS Loan FAFSA is required for the Parent PLUS Loan Parent is borrower - may apply online through the Student Financial Services website or at Parents will need their FAFSA PIN to sign-on and complete the Application and Master Promissory Note Credit based Varied/flexible payment options Fixed 7.9% Interest Rate 4% Origination fee Please Note: Requests for the Parent PLUS Loan is a two step process. Both the Application and Master Promissory Note must be completed.

19 Private Loans Student is the borrower may apply online through Credit based Rates, fees and repayment terms vary by lender Citizens Trufit Loan, Discover Student Loans, Sallie Mae Smart Option Loan, Wells Fargo Collegiate Loan To help students and their families evaluate their lender options, Marist utilizes ELM Select, a website that provides comparative information on Marist's recommended lenders and their loan products. The choice of a lender is not in any way limited to Marist's recommended list. If students and their parents choose another lender, they will not be penalized in any way for selecting the lender of their choice.
