2 Observation and action To correctly identify critical periods and in the event of urgent intervetion, the exact observation of the patient s life functions is indispensable. This information is immediately available on the crystalclear display. Monitored curves, numerical information and trends are all logically, perspicuously placed. All the displayed information and their positions may be configured based on the event, and these configurations are available in the menus. Alarms may be set for all measured / calculated parameters low and high limits. The alarm s result may be set as a parameter: on-line printing, storing the picture as an event, a sound and its type. This way, the observer can judge the event by the sound of the alarm. Auto limit setting is possible by the current parameters. Trends The InnoCare stores the trends of the 1 minute averages of all the parameters. The screen can be split to display the selected trends and the scrolling curves. Maximum 72-hour trends may be displayed in 2, 3, 6, 16, 24-hour intervals. The values of any minute from the last 72 hours may be displayed by moving the trend cursor. The rotary knob based menu system makes the diverse functions clearly and easily accesible; the different settings may be selected with a single move. Multi-level intelligent alarm Multi-level because it signals the different events (technical, patient signal, asystolia, etc.) with different sounds and actions (printing, event strorage, etc.). Intelligent because after the alarm it waits until the signalled parameter s measured / calculated value returns below the alarm level, and only then does it continue, while continuously watching the other values and if necessary starting an alarm.

4 Well organised system When a new monitor is connected to the network, it appears in the list of monitors. New monitor window can be opened from this list. The monitor windows can be resized to full screen, but should an event happen it restores it s original size (showing the window generating the event). Any window in alarm situation changes its color. Any alarm in the system is displayed and stored, whether the alarming monitor has an open window or not. Printer server function: any monitor can print on the central monitor s printer. The printout is different if the print was initiated from a bedside monitor or from the central. Software upgrades are possible through the network. Alarms can be acknowledged or switched off. Alarm limits and alarm settings can be adjusted from the central monitor. Instant access to the information Any combination of displayed curves and parameters can be selected. Up to 8 curves and 21 parameters can be displayed in one window. The curve s amplification, speed and color can also be set. There are different speed settings for the ECG-synchronic and breath sync. curves. Context sensitive help. The last 120 hours of all curves are stored and can be displayed or printed. 120-hour trend display, 5 parameters trends can be displayed simoultaneously. Printing for selectable intervalls. Trend cursor. All events with a section of curves are stored and can be displayed. The entire window configuration can be stored and retrieved, containing the monitor windows and their settings. Safe administration System users, their entry codes and authorization level can be set. A log entry is prepared about each performed change user name, time of change and the actual change can be followed. Monitors are identified by the patient name and bed number. Patient data can be read and modified. The system is time synchronised. INNOCARE C/C The monitoring system central unit INNOCARE Central unit serves as an information center developed for the bedside monitoring system. INNOCARE Central unit works as a real-time and simultaneous monitoring and control center of the parameters measured and calculated by the INNOCARE bedside monitors connected through an Ethernet network. More than 30 patient curves can be monitored simultaneously, but connection is possible with even more bedside monitors, the signals of which appear either upon alarm or users control. Control and setting of each bedside monitor is possible from the central unit. The software package operates under Windows NT, which makes it possible to create individually resized and placed windows for each bedside monitor. The system fully supports curve and data archiving.
