The committee met as a whole and in subcommittees. Much planning had been done previously to create a technology plan that was still in effect. Along with the development of the EETT Technology plan, advice and comment was solicited from parents and community supporters. The plan was put onto the district website and public comment was solicited. The CTAP region 10 representative was of great assistance in the plan s development. In addition to the development committee, representatives from each of the school sites assisted in various information gathering tasks including completion of the CDE online Technology Survey (suspended 2008), site hardware inventories, and overseeing the completion of Project Tomorrow's Speakup 2011 survey by staff and students at their site. Several Community stakeholders have provided technology support to the students and teachers in our district. The Redlands Educational Partnership Foundation has provided thousands of dollars in grants to teachers for technology tools. Fundraising by district Parent, Teacher, and Student Associations (PTSA) provides ongoing support and equipment. Several community organizations such as The Boys and Girls Club, Redlands Community Center, area churches and local public libraries provide computer access and assistance to district students. 7 Redlands East Valley Citrus Valley Orangewo od b. Description of the district's current use of hardware and software to support teaching and learning. Elementary teachers use computer labs and classroom computers to give students access to curriculum based software such as Accelerated Reader, Accelerated Math, English in a Flash, STAR Early Literacy. Various schools have additional curriculum based software available in the labs in the areas of math, reading and writing. All schools use STAR Reading, a reading assessment program, to evaluate and monitor reading skill development. Some classrooms are equipped with presentation systems and teachers use PowerPoint and the Internet to enhance student learning. Students in the upper grades conduct research using internet sources and create presentations with the resulting information. Most schools introduce typing skills and instruct upper grade students in the use of word processing software. Additionally, elementary school libraries are equipped with student workstations where students can search the library database or online resources. Technology instruction focuses on teaching basic technology and computer use skills through activities that reinforce state standards. Before and after school intervention programs utilize technology to help students work toward Basic and Proficient levels on state content standards testing in reading and math. Several elementary schools and middle schools are using Study Island, an online state standards practice program. At the middle school level, various computer courses are offered to students as electives. In the content areas, students are asked to create projects and complete assignments using various technologies. Teachers use technology (internet, multi-media presentations, etc.) to engage students and deliver academic content. Teachers utilize computer labs and library media centers during instructional time on a sign-up basis. New textbook adoptions in academic subjects have included content area software that is being used by science, math, social studies and English teachers. Remedial reading and math programs offered during the school day target low performing students and are enhanced by technology. Before and after school intervention programs utilize technology to help students work toward Basic and Proficient levels on state content standards testing in reading and math. Broadcasting classes allow students to develop their writing and presentation skills. Web page design classes teach students how to interact with html programming. ELL students learn English using specialized software in classroom mini-labs. Several sites K-12 use Fast ForWord reading training for at risk students. Middle and high school libraries are offering audio books on mp3 players for check out. On demand streaming video is provided at most middle schools. Most classrooms are equipped with presentation systems and are able to project computer content and on demand video. Teachers Redlands Unified July 1, June 30, 2015 Page 5

8 use technology to deliver content and enhance student learning with a variety of applications including teacher created PowerPoint presentations, online resources, and digital content produced by the textbooks publishers. Teachers incorporate content from ExamView to create standards-aligned assessments. A math initiative has resulted in the placement of MOBI tablets and student response systems in all Algebra I classrooms. Some additional classrooms are equipped with student response systems and interactive tablets. Most teachers are using Data Director to track common assessments and state test results. At the high schools, students learn computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentation software) in alignment with the site technology goals and objectives. Students use these skills throughout the curriculum to research, design, and publish documents and to prepare presentations that demonstrate clear questioning and creative research strategies. Most classrooms have presentation systems and are able to project computer content and on demand video. Teachers use technology to deliver content and enhance student learning with a variety of applications including teacher created PowerPoint presentations, online resources, technology enhanced tools such as probe ware, and programmable, graphing calculators. Several classrooms are equipped with Student Response systems and/or interactive whiteboards which are integrated with course standards. A math initiative has resulted in the placement of MOBI tablets and student response systems in all Algebra I classrooms. Teachers and students use content area software provided by textbook publishers and many textbooks are accessible either online or on CD. Broadcasting classes and web page design classes allow students to develop their writing, presentation, and html skills. Specialized technology classes are offered by ROP including CAD and GIS. Seniors create electronic portfolios with career research, resumes, and personal statements suitable for college applications. Redlands East Valley is using Turnitin.com, an anti-plagiarism site, as part of the writing improvement program. All three high schools and the continuation school are using NovaNet, Revolution Prep and/or Read180, online curriculum delivery programs for students who need to pass the High School Exit Exam, improve reading skills and those needing credit recovery. 24 4. Development 4a. Summary of teachers' and administrators' current technology skills and needs for professional development. Redlands Unified School District has been supporting new technology efforts with professional development opportunities for all administrators and teachers. The district continues to use a train-the-trainer model by offering training to a small group of teachers from each site that in turn provide training and support on site for the rest of the staff. Current and ongoing training exists for ABI, Data Director, and Odyssey credit recovery software. A math initiative allowed algebra teachers to participate in three days of training in the use of MOBI tablets and Interwrite student response systems in If the district acquires the funds for more MOBI tablets and student response systems, these algebra teachers will be able to provide assistance and support at their sites. As technology moves from school servers and hard drives to cloud-based services on the Internet, training for teachers will need to focus both on browser use and these cloud-based services. The train-the trainer model will allow teachers who participate in pilot programs using new technology to train and support other teachers at their sites. Many tutorials and webinars are available online. Teachers will complete the EdTech Profile survey to assess their current proficiency and future needs. Currently, all teachers in the district use for home-school and professional communication, most teachers are competent with Microsoft Office and online attendance and grade reporting. Many teachers use document cameras, projectors, interactive tablets and clickers with regularity. 4b. List of clear goals, measurable objectives, annual benchmarks, and an implementation plan for providing professional development opportunities based on your district needs assessment data (4a) and the Curriculum Component objectives (sections 3d through 3j) of the plan. Goal 4b.1: All staff, certificated, classified, and administrative, will have access to professional development activities to support student learning Objective 4b.1.1: By June of 2012, all staff will have the opportunity to participate in professional development activities which support student attainment of the California Content and Common Core Standards. Benchmarks: Year 1: 60% of the school staff will participate in various types of professional development activities to integrate the use of technology into all core curriculum.
