8 Licensure * Outcome 00 to 0 Total number of students with doctoral degrees conferred on 30 transcript in time period Number of students with doctoral degrees conferred on 3 transcripts who became licensed doctoral psychologists in time period Licensure percentage 43% * Note on Licensure From 00 to 0 the Program graduated 30 doctoral students. Of these, 3 graduates (43%) have obtained licensure as a psychologist. While a licensure rate of 43% of our graduates over the past 0 years may appear to be a moderate rate, it should be noted that our program and curriculum prepare interested graduates to take the national psychology licensure exam and to qualify as State board licensed psychologists. Further, it should be noted that according to information published by the Association of State and Provincial Licensing Boards ( ocprgm.pdf) the pass rate for our graduates taking the exam since 006 is 9%. Yet, as with many school psychology doctoral programs our program is focused on the provision of psychological services in pre-school through secondary level public school settings rather than in clinic, medical, or independent practice settings. We believe our graduates moderate rate of psychology licensure may be due to a focus on working in school settings. Such work typically requires a separate State Department of Education school psychologist credential, and psychology board licensure is usually not accepted as a means for obtaining such a credential. All of our graduates are eligible for obtaining State Department of Education credentials as school psychologists, and virtually all of them hold such credentials in one or more states. In addition, the majority of our graduates also have obtained the Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) credential. Potential applicants to our program who wish to eventually become board licensed psychologists should be aware that our program can and does provide appropriate support for achieving this professional goal for each student in the program.
