Briefly describe the primary reason the job exists at LCC. The Senior Information Security Analyst position is responsible for the administration and monitoring of the college s information security infrastructure and assisting with planning for business continuity and disaster recovery. This includes monitoring, investigating and responding to information security events for all college technology devices relating to internal and external compromises and violations of college policy. The position evaluates risks to the college from IT projects and leads projects to improve the security architecture of college systems. This position will develop security awareness messages and communicate them to the college community, and acts as a technical liaison to ITS (Information Technology Services) and other college personnel. Other duties, as assigned, are implicit in all position descriptions. 25 % 1. Monitor the security event management systems and numerous logs for issues and recommend changes to IT security controls. These include investigations of employee abuse of computer systems and monitoring of employee compliance with security policy and best practices. 15 % 2. Manage the college security devices (Firewalls, Intrusion Prevention, Web Content Filters) to facilitate business requirements and to defend against current threats.

Monitor the security threat environment (REN-ISAC, Educause, SANS) and provide analysis on its impact to the Information Security Management System of the college, and remain current and learn new emerging technologies as applicable to information security. 10 % 5. Design, analyze and assess the IT infrastructure for compliance with Federal, State and contractual requirements (e.g., FERPA, HIPAA, PCI, State Privacy Laws) 5 % 6. Create, manage and maintain user security awareness. 5 % 7. Perform vulnerability scans of systems and monitor remediation efforts. 5 % 8. Develop policy and procedures that support the Information Security Program (Ex. Anti-malware, Generic TUID, Mobile Device). 5 % 9. Ensure that the Director and Infrastructure Support team is fully informed of the all activities pertaining to all projects, tasks, and incidents 2. Report Security Metrics and Investigations to management. 3. Explain complex technical details to non-technical individuals as part of HR investigations. 4. Communicate with college personnel to analyze the feasibility of new requests or to investigate problems they are experiencing with current systems. This requires the ability to interact efficiently and effectively to recognize and/or anticipate client needs 5. Develop and deliver information security awareness sessions regarding current user threats 6. Effectively document meetings, discussions, decisions, and other project management artifacts 7. Communicate changes to the college threat environment to appropriate campus populations 8. Ensure that risks are understood and appropriately mitigated 9. Communicate with vendors to provide solutions to problems 10. Advanced verbal and written communication skills COLLABORATION 1. Experience in Incident Response or Forensics preferred EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Identify the education and/or equivalent combination of education and experience, plus additional specific years of experience, certifications, licenses and/or special training required to perform the essential functions of this job. 1. Bachelor s Degree in information systems, computer science, or equivalent or 5 years IT experience. 2. Possession of industry certifications highly preferred including, but not limited to, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC, especially GSEC), Certified Information Security Auditor (CISA) 3. Demonstrable expertise in the administration of Information Security Management Systems and Incident Response.
