5 Appendix 2 Description of Hospital / Institution Homerton University Hospital NHS foundation Trust is situated in the East- End of London. The hospital is situated approximately 6 miles from London s West End and 4 miles from Islington with trendy restaurants and bars. The hospital has approximately 500 beds and provides general hospital services to a young, highly diverse and mobile population of nearly people. The hospital works very closely with 4 other hospitals and between us we provide a full range of urological services in the east of London. The urology department has 3 consultant surgeons, one clinical oncologist, 3 registars, one house officer, one nurse specialist for benign urology and one uro-oncology nurse practitioner. The hospital has a long history of supporting the development of nursing posts and we have many nurse-led clinics including prostate biopsy, PSA surveillance, haematuria, intravesical therapy, prostate assessment, erectile dysfunction and a telephone follow-up clinic for patients with stable prostate cancer. If you visit our hospital you are welcome to attend urology clinics, day surgery, cystoscopy and main operating theatres. You can also have the opportunity to visit one of our sister hospitals. Our hospital is also a training hospital for students of nursing, midwifery, radiology and medicine and we value the opportunity to share learning with others.
