4 Why does it matter? Accreditation is required in order for us to offer federal financial aid. It provides assurance to stakeholders It gives us the opportunity to focus on improvement

5 How will this affect you? A quality initiative, starting next year, will involve many of us on campus. Assessment of student learning and improvement will be something most all of us will engage in You may be providing evidence related to accreditation

6 Criterion One. Mission 1.A. The institution s mission is broadly understood... 1.B. The mission is articulated publicly. 1.C.... relationship between... mission and the diversity of society. 1.D.... mission demonstrates commitment to the public good.

7 Criterion Two. Integrity: Ethical and Responsible Conduct 2.A. The institution operates with integrity... 2.B. The institution presents itself clearly and completely to its students and to the public... 2.C. The governing board of the institution is sufficiently autonomous... 2.D. The institution is committed to freedom of expression and the pursuit of truth... 2.E. The institution.. [calls for the]responsible acquisition, discovery and application of knowledge by its faculty, students and staff.

8 Criterion Three. Teaching and Learning: Quality, Resources, and Support 3.A. The institution s degree programs are appropriate to higher education. 3.B....intellectual inquiry and the acquisition, application, and integration of broad learning and skills are integral to its educational programs. 3.C.... faculty and staff needed for effective, highquality programs and student services. 3.D.... provides support for student learning and effective teaching. 3.E....fulfills the claims it makes for an enriched educational environment.

The institution demonstrates a commitment to educational improvement through ongoing attention to retention, persistence, and completion rates in its degree and certificate programs.

16 HLC Assessment Academy Our participation allowed us to avoid a focused visit following our March, 2010 visit. June 3 rd and 4 th, presentation to HLC. Therefore, critical that programs are collecting information, based on the plan. Critical that programs can report findings, action plans by the end of the school year.
