6 Welcome It is my pleasure to introduce the program for the 2nd Annual Integrating Mental Health into the NDIS Conference, taking place on 27th and 28th November 2014, at the Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel, Sydney. I am delighted to announce that David Butt, CEO and Commissioner for the National Mental Health Commission will provide the keynote opening address and Frank Quinlan, CEO for Mental Health Australia, Eddie Bartnik, Strategic Adviser, NDIA and David Meldrum, Executive Director for Mental Illness Fellowship of Australia will address the design of the scheme and how this will affect the mental health sector. In total, 26 key speakers from across the country will come together to discuss the integration of mental health into the NDIS, highlighting emerging lessons from the launch sites. The changing landscape for service providers and the integration of the NDIS with other schemes will be examined, including how to maximise choice and control by supporting and preparing people with mental illness for a successful transition to the scheme. The conference will bring together state disability services and health representatives, mental health services and specialist psychiatric hospitals and facilities, alcohol and other drugs services, NGO s providing mental health support services and disability support, carers and consumers, in addition to care and accommodation providers.
