2 Introduction MARINDUQUE Biophysical Profile 1. Coral Reefs and associated life forms and fisheries presence of corals in 58 brgys. out of the 93 coastal brgys. with only 20 % live hard coral cover. Other life forms are 2 endangered clams (Tridacna squasoma and T. crocea), good growth of macro algae or Caulerpa sp. lato and Halimeda and plenty of sea urchin, sea cucumber, blue crab and sea horse. Dominant species of fish are Caesionids, Siganids, Lutjanids and Thread Breams. 2. Mangroves 3, has. of mangrove forest, Rhizophora sp. and Api-api are common species. 3. Seagrasses seagrassbeds is almost all over the coastal areas with eleven (11) species with Enhalus accoroides as dominant species. 4. Sea Turles (Pawikan) the province is a migration route and nesting grounds of marine turtles; Green sea. Olive Ridley and Hawk

3 5. Existing MPAs and Other Marine Conservation Program there are five (5) Municipal Marine Reserves, one (1) Mariculture Park and one (1) Marine Protected Area 6. Marinduque Wildlife Sanctuary NIPAS area with an aggregate area of 8, has. Socio-economic Profile 1. Political Subdivision lone congressional district, composed of six (6) municipalities. 2. Population 235, 121 persons 3. Industry agriculture is the main economic activity with 53,586.5 has. total production area. 4. Tourism/Ecotourism the province is famous for its Morines Festival and the Bella Rocca, a 6 star island resort hotel and spa. The province provides area for scuba diving, kayaking, recreational fishing, caving nature trekking, bird, bat and butterfly watching
