Project involves working with two community partners (Legacy Health Care Systems and Multnomah County Health Department) to begin an innovative Home Visit program involving our second semester students and Primary Health Care clinics. 1/2014 Received Linfield College Faculty Development Grant: $3,553; Development of Transitional Care Pilot Project. 10/2012 Recipient of the Fourth Annual Edmond J. Safra Visiting Nurse Faculty Program Fellowship. Program in partnership with OHSU Department of Neurology focusing on curriculum integration of Parkinson s disease evidence based practice Nominated for Staff Employee of the year by students and staff: Colby-Sawyer College 6/2004 Maternal Child Health Grant: $45,000 New Hampshire State Grant: Written in conjunction with Valley Regional Hospital Claremont, New Hampshire. Focus was on reducing dental related emergency room visits in pediatric population. 5/2000 Mott Foundation: $7,000 Multicultural Community Grant Award Wrote grant on behalf of Latinos for Political Education (LAPE), Reno NV PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES AND COMMUNITY SERVICE: Portland Adventist Community Services Health Clinic: volunteer Nurse Practitioner. Provides primary care services to the uninsured population of Multnomah County of Oregon. Provided shadowing experiences for Linfield students who are thinking of graduate school to become a nurse practitioner. This experience encourages them to work with underserved populations Present Oregon Child Development Coalition: volunteer Nurse Practitioner. Provides free physical examinations to children of Migrant workers. For the past four summers Linfield nursing students have assisted with health screenings and have learned about pediatric growth and development and migrant health issues. This partnership has allowed semester one and two students to be involved in providing nursing care as part of clinical

Program Volunteer: Work with nurses to provide Disease Prevention strategies to Migrant workers who work in Yamhill County vineyards Present National Association of Hispanic Nurses (NAHN): Planning committee member. Coordinate bi-monthly meetings to encourage Latina nurses working in all of the area hospitals to join and become active members in promoting health of underserved populations. NAHN coordinates programs with various community action groups to decrease barriers to health care access and promote policies at the county, state and federal level. Several Linfield students have joined NAHN and have participated in meetings that have featured health care leaders in our community Present Kenton Neighborhood Health Fairs: Have worked with Kenton Neighborhood Community Council to assist with health screenings for underserved populations. Linfield nursing students have been able to assist me with Health Fair coordination, development of patient education brochures, and community assessment surveys Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE): Nurse Practitioner Examiner Consultant for College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia, Canada.
