9 Mine Automation System (MAS) 9 Developed from within a long term research programme, in partnership with the Rio Tinto Centre for Mine Automation at the University of Sydney. Incorporates many ideas and technologies from outside of the mining industry, including aerospace and defence. MAS is an integrated command and control element to support automated mining, and allow the mine to operate as an optimised system. The Mine Automation System is the critical component that supports whole-of-mine automation. RTVis is the visualisation software linked to Rio Tinto s Mine Automation System (MAS), providing a 3D representation of mine activities in real-time.
