3 Create great contrast Every image has tones that are considered to be darker or brighter. With its contrast module, the HP SmartStream Photo Enhancement Server extends the dynamic range of images. As a rule, contrast enhancement makes dark tones darker and bright tones brighter. Reduce JPEG artifacts The JPEG artifact reduction module reduces artifacts and defects caused by high JPEG compression, often used in consumer cameras to squeeze more images into a memory card. The artifacts show up in photos as block patterns or noisy patterns, usually in the vicinity of object boundaries. To achieve the ideal scaling, the HP SmartStream Photo Enhancement Server 2 reduces pixelisation and contrast edge artifacts. The module enhances only those images detected with a low DPI, otherwise maintaining their original size. ICC Colour Management HP SmartStream Photo Enhancement Server 2 fully supports ICC colour management workflow and ICC colour profiles. It supports three colour spaces for input images: greyscale, RGB and CMYK. Enhanced images can be saved in any of these colour spaces, according to user preferences. 3
