39 Why? LLN unit in core is a staged approach announced in 2011 Key stakeholders want Cert IV delivered by more highly qualified people. The Certificate IV to stand out as the required qualification for teaching and assessing in VET, and to encourage RTOs to use well qualified and experienced trainers in this program Entry requirement to encourage this focus
40 Implications LLN unit is already endorsed, can t add Assessor Requirements to it. Strengthening the Cert IV as the VET qualification means it is less likely the qualification will be able to be used for other purposes - may need other qualifications to be developed later
41 Other changes-draft 1- Draft 2 TAE50114 Diploma of Vocational Education and Training Replacement of LLN401 with LLN501 in the core of the qualification CORE units each require the assessor to hold the Diploma of VET or equivalent Relatively minor changes in the content of units and assessment requirements, but foundation skills rewritten in many units to focus more tightly on the requirements of the unit.
