1 MEDIA RELEASE May 14, 2015 Bankstown Sports honours local nurses with $40,000 in scholarships Local nurses will be able to enhance their skills and learn the latest in best practice care after Bankstown Sports Club awarded $40,000 in scholarships to 39 nurses at Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital on International Nurses Day (May 12) earlier this week. Now in its ninth year, Bankstown Sports Scholarship program for nurses has presented clinical excellence awards to staff at Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital. More than 200 nurses have been granted a combined total of $360,000 since the program began. The scholarships allow the recipients to further their education as well as attend and present at local and international conferences. This year the funding will support attendance at the Wound Management Conference in Terrigal, the Nursing and Midwifery Conference in Perth and the Renal Conference also in Perth. (See full list below) Assistant Director of Nursing and Midwifery Services at Bankstown Hospital, Linda Campbell, says We are grateful for the club s continued support, which benefits not only our nursing and midwifery staff but our patients through improved practice and professional development. Bankstown Sports CEO Mark Condi says We are pleased to support the invaluable work of our local nurses and midwives to enrich their skills. The scholarship program is another example of the club s ongoing commitment to provide opportunities for people in our community. Media Contact: Sue Nelson, Quick Thinking Communications, , or sue@qtcommunications.com.
