4 Types of account available Whether you re an occasional or frequent trader, a novice or experienced investor, the Saga Share Direct service, which is provided by Barclays Stockbrokers, offers flexible share dealing to suit. Both by telephone and online you can enjoy fast, easy access to a wide range of services and tools to help you make the most of your investments. To offer you the best possible flexibility for your trading Saga Share Direct has three types of account available: Trading Account The Trading Account is available to individuals and joint account holders. The standard trading limit is 50,000 per person and is adjusted according to the value of stock and cash you hold in your account. For further details of trading limits available, how they are calculated or to discuss your own personal requirements, please call the Customer Service Team on *. Stocks and Shares ISA A Stocks and Shares ISA allows you to avoid paying Capital Gains Tax and Income Tax by utilising the Government s ISA allowance. The Saga Stocks and Shares ISA operates in very much the same way as a Trading Account, with the main exception being the trading limit. In the 2015/16 tax year, the maximum amount you are allowed to put into an ISA is 15,240. This can be put into either a Cash ISA or a Stocks and Shares ISA or you can choose to put a percentage into each. Cash ISAs are not available through Saga Share Direct. Please note: To apply for a Stocks and Shares ISA you must open your account with a minimum of 250. For further details about how the Stocks and Shares ISA works or how trading limits are calculated, please call the Customer Service Team on *. Investment Clubs Trading Account Investment clubs can be a great way to learn about investing in the stock market and to benefit from the experience of your friends and family. The principle is simple. A group of people get together, usually once a month for a couple of hours, and discuss potential investments. Each member contributes some spare money, typically anything between 25 and 50 a month per person. The club then decides collectively which shares to buy and sell. For your security, purchases on investment club accounts are limited to the balance of your club s cash account. Sales made through the account are limited to the stock that you hold. Prefer to hold Share Certificates? There are numerous advantages to holding your shares in any of the nominee accounts mentioned above, not least of which is the lower dealing commissions. However, many of our customers prefer to hold share certificates registered in their own name. If you think you would prefer to trade in this way, please call the Customer Service Team on * to discuss the options available. Please note the rules on taxation can change. Saga Share Direct is not a tax adviser and is not providing you with tax advice. If you have any queries as to the tax implications of any investment you should seek independent advice. The value to you of any tax benefits will depend on your tax position. You should consult a tax adviser in order to understand the impact of your investment decisions on your tax position. 4

5 How it all works Saga Share Direct s nominee trading accounts operate in a similar way to a typical bank account. Any cash and investments you own are held by Barclays Bank PLC and administered on your behalf. As a result, here s what you can expect: Lower commission rates for dealing A printed contract note confirming every trade you make A printed statement every quarter, providing details of any trades you ve made in the previous quarter, dividends received, the current value of the investments and cash in your account, plus any change in their valuation since your previous statement An annual Consolidated Tax Certificate to make filling in a tax return simpler (not required for ISAs) Telephone dealing via UK-only call centres Online dealing with a variety of useful order types Online access to your full account information and portfolio value 24 hours a day, 365 days a year Notification of any corporate actions announced by companies you have invested in. You can also attend relevant Annual General Meetings or benefit from shareholder perks for the companies you hold shares in. The Customer Service Team will be happy to provide information about how to obtain your entitlements. Types of investment available Once you have fully opened your account you will be able to trade both online and via the telephone. However, some investment types are only available over the telephone. Investment Type Online Telephone LSE-listed stocks 3 3 AIM-listed stocks 3 3 Funds Market Unit Trusts and OEICs 3 3 Non-Funds Market Unit Trusts and OEICs 3 Gilts 3 Bonds 3 ETFs 3 3 PIBs 3 Warrants 3 3 Funding your account For your convenience, you can fund your account in a number of different ways: Direct Debit Debit Card Cheque (minimum 50) CHAPS, BACs and other electronic payments Depositing existing Share Certificates. Further details about how to fund your account will be provided in your Welcome Pack, alternatively please call * for further details. Important information regarding cheques Due to the nature of a cheque payment, the funds can be returned unpaid by your bank up to five days after presentation. For yours and Barclays protection, Barclays will first apply your cheque to their central Clearing Account. Once it is considered cleared, which will typically be six working days after receipt, the funds will be applied to your trading account. Please note that cheques received after 3pm will be banked the following day. As soon as a cheque has cleared and been credited to your dealing account, your Available to Invest figure will be updated. A withdrawal of cash from your account can only be made against cheques that have cleared. To reduce the time taken to apply your funds to your trading account, you can make a debit card payment online or over the telephone. You can also send funds via a telegraphic transfer or, if you bank with Barclays, you can fund your account using a Client Debit Authority (CDA). To confirm receipt of your cheque prior to being applied to your account, or to discuss alternative methods of funding your account, please contact the Customer Service Team on *. 5
