5 What are Programs of Study? Clusters, Pathways, and the seamless transition

6 What are Career Clusters? Career Clusters are groups of occupations and industries that have in common a set of foundational knowledge and skills. There are 16 nationally recognized clusters, within which are multiple career pathways.

7 The 16 Career Clusters

8 What are Pathways? Career Pathways are multi-year programs of academic and technical study that prepare students for a full range of postsecondary options within each of the 16 clusters. Currently, there are 79 nationally recognized pathways, each with specific knowledge and skills. Clusters Pathways Program of Study

9 What is a Program of Study? Starts no later than 9 th grade and continues through the postsecondary level Non-duplicative sequence of courses Includes opportunities to earn college credit Potential to earn credentials, certificates, and/or degrees

26 Course Sequences Map out recommended academic and CTE courses Begin with introductory courses at the secondary level or adult education bridge. Progress to more occupationally specific courses at the postsecondary level Offer opportunities for postsecondary credit while in high school

32 Engage in the PTR Process Pathways to Results is an initiative of the State of Illinois focused on improving student transition results for critical career pathways. It will do so by developing metrics, methods and tools that community colleges can use to continuously improve the results obtained by students. Visit OCCRL s Website
