2 About The Direct Employers Association The Direct Employers Association [DEA] is a not for profit membership organisation specifically created for businesses, big and small, with a specific focus on talent acquisition and resourcing, working with in-house professionals who deliver on the skills, capabilities and manpower needs of the organisation. The direct sourcing, or direct engagement, model has already demonstrated significant savings to employers whilst improving the quality of the candidates engaged. The DEA has been created to help deliver these benefits for its members of like minded organisations through networking and sharing of ideas resulting in the formulation of best practice. The DEA also influences and educates policy makers and key stakeholders on key issues and developments affecting the resourcing sector. 2
3 About Colin Minto Global Head of Resourcing, G4S plc Founding Chairman DEA Chairman s Opening Comments The Executive Committee of The Direct Employers Association has worked hard to deliver an exceptional result over the last 12 months across all of our key objectives. Committee members are leading and driving a wide range of projects and developments that include: Our resourcing practitioner s development programme Our work in the education sector working with schools to help them prepare students for the world of work Further developments for the career site and talent community. With the ongoing development of our key objectives we will be looking to expand the Executive Committee with new members leading and driving many of the planned developments over the next year. I believe the hard work over the last 12 months has now put us in a very strong position with a wide range of tangible benefits to our members. This will allow us to grow our membership significantly over the next year across both large employers and SME s. 3

5 Members Benefits Preparing Students For The World of Work This DEA initiative is designed to support the Government objectives to better prepare school leavers for work, and so reduce the numbers of unemployed year olds, but also follows up on the feedback from many employers that school leavers skills do not match what they are looking for. DEA members are experts in this area and the events allow its members to pass on their valuable insights into the current and future recruitment landscape as well as the opportunity to reach future job seekers and promote their employer brands. 5

7 Members Benefits Influence The DEA and its members meet with key Government Departments to discuss legislation that impacts employer recruitment to ensure we create the right conditions for informed decisions affecting UK employment. This important part of the DEA's mission will help to develop the right environment for effective recruiting. The objective of the DEA is to create the framework to allow this to happen. These Roundtable discussions provide member companies and their representatives direct access to senior policy officials to discuss a wide range of topics and issues impacting the resourcing sector. 7
