1. Background & Introduction to Copernicus Data Access
Data Access to Contributing Missions- Context
Objectives of the Copernicus Data Access Project Ensure comprehensive and sustainable supply of EO data in response to the Copernicus service needs (during ), with Copernicus Contributing Missions complementing the Sentinels. Provide harmonised access to data from different sources, ensuring seamless access to different EO data. 1. Procure EO data from Copernicus Contributing Missions (CCMs) for usage by eligible Copernicus Services projects (CSPs) 2. Provide the procured data via the Coordinated Data access System (CDS) using defined operational scenarios to ensure reliable and controlled data flow, including establishing and maintaining technical interfaces of CCMs towards this system 3. Ensure EO data quality and service performance
Phases & funding of Data Access (DA) 2007-Sep 2010 Sep 11 DA Grant Ext 97 M Jun 11- May 14 Nov 14 Mar 15 ESA/EU GMES Delegation Agreement Ext Ext 48 M May 2013 User hearing DWH V2.0 Mar M+ Apr 2015 Dec 2020 MFF/Ops Phase EU-ESA Copernicus Agreement
Eligible users in the context of Copernicus Contributing Missions in DWH Phases Grant: Phase 1: Phase 2: Participants to a 1. Participants to a 1. Copernicus services project financed project financed 2. Institutions and bodies of under FP7 under FP7 (includes the Union 2. Institutions and bodies Copernicus services) 3. Participants to a research of the EU (few 2. Institutions and project financed under the datasets) bodies of the EU Union research programs 3. Public authority (FP7/H2020 Space) 4. International Organisations and NGOs 4. Public authority 5. International organisations & NGOs 5. Public 6. Public 7. Participants to a research project financed under the Union research programs (FP7/H2020 non Space)
Two Dataset types, and 3 Access types = continuity of previous phase 1. CORE datasets: continuous data delivery from systematic missions, predefined large coverages or regular repetitive coverages, to serve a large variety of Service providers; 2. ADDITIONAL datasets: 40 data type categories to meet specific requirements of Copernicus Users; on demand datasets, activated through ordering by Users who are granted a quota. A. DISCOVERY : search for spatial datasets and services on the basis of the content of the corresponding metadata and display of the content of the metadata. B. VIEW : The VIEW service shall make possible, as a minimum, to display, navigate, zoom in/out, pan, or overlay viewable spatial data sets and to display legend information and any relevant content of metadata C. DOWNLOAD : access to full products as supplied by CCMs, to process to higher levels.
