4 Step 1 Select the Right Default Investment for Your Employee Base When it comes to Qualified Default Investment Alternatives (QDIAs), one size does not fit all, and options can differ significantly. We offer four carefully selected QDIAs with varying investment approaches, so you re sure to find one that fits the needs of your employees.

5 QDIA Continuum Target Date Funds Ease of concept/all in-one funds managed to a projected retirement date or along an investment glidepath. Individually Managed Accounts (IMAs) A retirement account that is managed by an investment professional. Vanguard Target Retirement Mutual GlidePath Stadion Managed Accounts Morningstar Retirement Manager SM Managed to Retirement Converts to income fund 7 years after target date All Index Funds Lowest cost within the continuum Single manager approach Managed through Retirement Glidepath continues for 20 years beyond target date Access to full universe of investment options Multi-manager approach Utilizes five professionally managed risk-based portfolios Offers tactical management focused on downside protection Personalized savings and investment strategy Ongoing account management Utilizes funds selected by the plan MAY APPEAL TO AN EMPLOYEE BASE THAT: Embraces an all-index fund approach / invest in broad markets strategy Embraces a strategy that utilizes both active management and index funds Is more concerned with limiting losses in falling markets than capturing gains in rising markets Prefers professional investment management based upon unique circumstances and outside acts CAPITAL ACCUMULATION LESS CUSTOMIZABLE RETIREMENT INCOME REPLACEMENT MORE CUSTOMIZABLE Prior to selecting investment options for your plan, plan sponsors should consider the investment objectives, risks, fees and expenses carefully. For this and other important information, plan sponsors may obtain prospectuses for mutual funds, a sample group variable annuity contract and the annuity's underlying funds and/or disclosure documents from their Registered Representative or advisor. Read them carefully.

6 Step 2 Determine the Level of Protection You Need for Investment Selection Investment selection and monitoring are both offered through Mesirow Financial s Fiduciary Partnership Program. You can choose from two services. For both services, Mesirow Financial provides you with legal protection from employee claims regarding approved investment options, as detailed in the agreement between Mesirow Financial and the plan sponsor. Choose from two levels of plan protection: Selection and Monitoring Service With this 3(21) co-fiduciary service, Mesirow Financial makes fund recommendations, but you make the final decision, either selecting from a menu of funds approved by Mesirow Financial or selecting one of their suggested line-ups. Investment Management Service With the 3(38) investment manager service, Mesirow Financial selects, monitors, and replaces (as it deems necessary) the funds in your line-up for a small additional fee, allowing you to take a more hands-off approach. You and your advisor select from four carefully screened investment guidelines based on your employee demographics.

Additional investment options provide alternatives for employees who want an investment strategy different from that of the QDIA.
