Nursing includes the promotion of health, prevention of illness, and the care of ill, disabled and dying people. Nurses strive to resolve such con0licts in ways that ensure patient safety, guard the patient's best interests and preserve the professional integrity of the nurse. The nurse's primary commitment is to the patient, whether an individual, family, group, or community.
